Irving W. Monroe Jr.

AGE: 76 • Gahanna, OH

Irving W. Monroe Jr., 76, of Neptune, passed away on Monday, July 8th, 2013 in Ohio. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he lived in Neptune for 29 years before moving to Ohio 3 years ago. He was an Army veteran and computer programmer with RCA/MCI for over 40 years.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Josie Cecelia, in 2010; grandmother, Lillie "Muna" Gray; parents, Irving W. Monroe Sr. and Jessie St.Clair Monroe Collado; sisters, Ernestine Williamson and Esther Stokes. He is survived by his 5 sons, Dean of Queens, NY, Wayne of Piketon, OH, Lawrence (Melanie) of Gahanna, OH, Darius (Fran) of Toms River, and Dorian of Neptune; his daughter, Shannon Monroe of San Diego CA; grandchildren, Londa, Lindsey and Aura Monroe, Laida (Thomas) Lavelle and Darren (Alice) Robinson; great grandson, Thomas Lavelle; sisters, Lillie Johnson, Ellen Jean Gates, Janet Johnson-Shaw, Patricia Smith, Denise Monroe-Gordon, Jacqueline Williams; brothers, Cornelius and Bruce Monroe; and many other loving family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17th, 10 AM until the funeral service at Noon, Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. Interment will follow at the Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. To share photos or send the family a condolence, please visit www.freemanfuneralhomes.com
