Irene Maupin, 95, of Greenfield, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton.
She was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Thompskinville, Ky., to Aros C. and Otia C. (Brown) England. She married Stanley Maupin on Dec. 4, 1938, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Rose Ellen Evoy.
Surviving is one brother, William England; and eight nephews.
Mrs. Maupin was an elementary school teacher in Greenfield for over 25 years. She was Matron of Honor of the Greenfield Masonic Women's Auxiliary.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Witt Cemetery near Rockbridge. Memorials are suggested to the Charity Baptist Church in Greenfield.

I always enjoyed her 'a little dab will do you' homework mentality. She made learning fun. I will miss her very much.

Blessings to your family at this time. Mrs. Maupin was my 4th grade teacher. I really thought I'd accomplished something because I was taller than my teacher. She taught me I had much more "growing" to do!
