Along with millions of viewers Worldwide, I watched the broadcast of Sister Monson's funeral service yesterday. LDS funerals are, almost, joyful because we know that mortal death is merely the passageway into Eternal Life in Heaven & that even though we miss our loved ones, we have the knowledge that we will all be reunited one day forever, so, physical separation is only temporary. I held it together until, as I always do, at the conclusion of the lovely service, her flower-draped casket was slowly wheeled out of the Tabernacle. What crosses my mind when I attend funerals is that is the last time they will be in Heavenly Father's Earthly home. I don't know why that thought 'gets to me' but it does & the tears start to well up in my eyes & flow down my cheeks but they are, really, tears of joy for a life well-lived as Sister Monson's was uneqivocally.
