As a member of the class of '78, I fondly remember Mr. Barger. He was an excellent teacher, guidance counselor, and a good friend to have at school. He always had kind things to say and I always felt good after speaking with him. They don't make them like this anymore. Colonel, God Bless you and your family during this time. Rest In Peace.....

Colonel Barger is one of the greatest people I've ever known. He truly cared and looked after his students at Arundel. I consider myself a very lucky person for being a student of his. He made every student a better person. If only there were more people like Colonel Barger. The world has lost a great man. God speed Colonel.

As a teacher at Arundel for 20 years, I always knew that I could depend on Don Barger for support and encouragment. He was a great administrator and a loyal supporter for Arundel. "Ave atque vale" hail and farewell.

Colonel Barger, I hope you are smiling on all of us that knew you at Arundel. We all remember only the best faculty, from Arundel High. You were always at the top of everyone's list. You will be missed by many.

Whether it was the weather, fire regulations, my own problems, concerns about students and sometimes colleagues, current events, philosophy, sports, religion, or his going to his grandson's bar mitzvah in Cleveland, I will always treasure my conversations with the Colonel as a colleague at AHS over the 15 or so years we were there together. Showing a genuine concern for everyone he was in contact with, he never tired of talking with and helping people, myself included.

My parents knew him as Colonel Barger (Dad was an MP, later CID, Mom was his secretary for a short time) but to me he was Mr. Barger. Many of my fondest memories from Arundel include Mr. Barger. The last tour my Dad took with the army was an unaccompanied tour when I was in High School. Mr. Barger constantly checked on me, made sure I was doing okay with my father gone. My senior year of high school I had the pleasure of being his aid first period. His guidance, patience and at times much needed stern words molded me into the woman I am today.
He was such an amazing man and I will always love and remember him.
My condolences and deepest sympahty to the Barger family.
