A sincere thank you from one of the thousands of Jacksonville Univ. graduates who never met you; but are awed by your legacy at JU. In very difficult times you changed the landscape from a small local junior college to a national university. You helped make many young people future citizens of America. Thank you again

It was a great honor to paint his portrait as a young soldier. Now there are 19.

We are so saddened to learn of the death of a true American hero, a man who served his country both in military service and academic endeavors as well as leadership. Dr. Johnson's presence at our table at the Spirit of 45 breakfast last year was one of the greatest and yet most humbling moments we have experienced. His engaging conversation and willingness to share his life experiences were a treasured gift to us and will never be forgotten.

Dr. J personifies all that is good and right in this world. There was a local history award established last year in his name for any JROTC who advances to the Florida History Fair. It was truly an honor to know this extraordinary man, whose loyalty to his fellow WWII soldiers and devotion to all veterans, was unparalleled. He will be missed indeed.
