Thomasine DeFoe Skelton

Thomasine Defoe Skelton slipped quietly into eternity in her sleep on the evening of Saturday, April 22, 2017. She had suffered for several years with vascular dementia. She is now, at long last, resting peacefully. Tommie, as she was know by her friends, was the only child of Thomas C. and Carrie Tatum DeFoe of Hohenwald, Tennessee born to them on September 24, 1922. After high school, she married William Howard Skelton of Lewis County, Tennessee. They moved to Centerville, Tennessee in 1947 where she worked as secretary/of?ce manager to J. Paul Nickell, a local road contractor. She was active in The United Methodist Church of Centerville, the Centerville Bridge Club, and Skyview Country Club. In 1968, she and her husband moved to Naples, Florida where she resided until her passing. In Naples, she worked as secretary for Turner Corporation until her retirement. She is survived by her two children: William Thomas Skelton of Cape Coral, Florida and Teresa Skelton Scinto of Lake Mary, Florida; two grandchildren: Gina Scinto of Gainesville, Florida and Brett Skelton of Hendersonville, Tennessee; and two great grandchildren: Logan Skelton and Audrey Skelton of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Her memorial service will the held at the Naples United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm. All of her friends are invited to this celebration of her life. The family requests that in lieu of ?owers, a donation be made to The Alzheimer's Association of America.
Cremation has been entrusted to The Beachwood Cremation Society, 4444 Tamiami Tr. N. Naples, FL (239)261-1767.
