Dear Elly and Family, I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. In many ways, Arlene was bigger than life. Although I was not in contact with Arlene over the past few years, her passing has taken a piece of my heart. Too many fantastic memories to mention. Arlene played a large part in my life for many years. Hanging out with our friends at her place listening to The Beatles was just one memory that puts a smile on my face, let alone living with her and other good friends in Kitsilano. I am heartbroken for you, your family and Arlene's girls. Arlene was a great person in many ways and she will never be forgotten. Aleha HaShalom, Arlene.

June 13, 2018.
I send my deepest condolences and prayers for your family's loss. I met the amazing vibrant, loving, beauty with a smile that would light up a room Arlene Barlin in Los Angeles.
Our mutual friend Nancy connected us and her exact words were you have to meet Arlene, since you are both living in LA. You and her will get along so well. And she was so right!! The second I met her I immediately felt it. Her young spirit, laughter, captured my heart and then there is yoga !
Where I felt the connection most from Arlene was the love that poured from her and how proud she was as a mother when she spoke about her three daughters. Both of us being moms ,with daughters immediately felt it. My best fond memories of Arlene is how generous ,loving, sincere, genuine, real and compassionate she is. Her beauty and amazing figure and style would stop traffic. She insisted we take a picture together and forever in my heart, I am grateful we did. She spread love with a her smile.
I send hugs to the daughters , sister Elly Barlin-Daniels and the rest of the family. From my heart to yours. Carmela Evangelista xoxox

I have lost my dear friend.
Please accept my deepest sympathy in your great loss. I was very blessed to have known Arlene where we first met in grade school. I learned so many things from her. She was an extraordinary mother and her daughters were her world. She was so beautiful and so vivacious, smart, funny, sweet and very thoughtful. Someone I truly admired because of her strength as well as generosity.
I share your pain and sadness in your loss of a wonderful mother and sister and Aunt. I will cherish the memories I have of Arlene forever. I could never ask for a better friend.
In deep sorrow

Arlene filled my heart, mind, and soul with love, beauty, adventure and compassion from the day we met (and went flying over Winnipeg on our first date) some 41 years ago. I'll never forget the wonderful adventures we shared, such as backpacking through Italy, Greece, and Israel, our mother's matching Oldsmobile Cutlass cars (mine was yellow, hers was blue), moving to Vancouver, sharing a house with friends at Kits Beach... oh the stories! The memory of Arlene and her free spirit will always live on and inspire me. My deepest heartfelt sympathy to Arlene's family for the loss of this amazing human being. I know she adored her daughters with all her heart and often spoke of them with overflowing love and pride.

My thoughts are with you, Cary Rodin
