May God have mercy on her soul and grant her family members the strength and faith to bear her demise, amen. From God we come and unto Him we shall all return.
Having just learned, very belatedly, of Ildi's passing, may I offer sincere condolences to Brad and family. I first met Ildi not long after each of us began working in Ottawa, she at Carleton University and I at the University of Ottawa. Her open and unreservedly friendly manner made that first meeting seem more like encountering a good friend of long acquaintance. To know her as a colleague and friend was a privilege and pleasure. She will be missed.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Oh my goodness - how did we miss this. So sorry Kati, Lisa & Brad. She was a wonderful, inspirational woman and will be sadly missed. Love from all of the Livingstones - Jack, Kerry-Anne & Jennifer.
Ildi Munro was a great professor and an inspiring mentor. Her patience, understanding, guidance, and wisdom helped me complete my integrated science degree during a very difficult time in my life as well. She will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to Brad and family.
Ildi was a wonderful Professor and taught me many things during my Carleton Environmental Science days. Her door was always open, her smile was always wide and she had a great laugh.
Ildi Munro was a great professor who cared about her students. I feel so blessed to have had the honour to meet her and learn from her. She was such a lovely person, and was always there whenever her students needed guidance and advice. I will always remember her....thank you Ildi.
Elizabeth and I were greatly saddened by the passing away of Ildi. Ildi and I had known each other since I arrived at Carleton 25 years ago. As Ildi and I were both micropaleontologists we had a lot in common. I always enjoyed our discussions, on not just bugs, but also about our families, and life in general. She had a terrific sense of humor and a real sparkle that will fondly be remembered by all who knew her. As a colleague one of the things that impressed me most about Ildi was her enthusiasm, and particularly her dedication to students. Despite some of her classes being very large she made time to make sure that no one was left behind. She will thus not only be fondly remembered by friends and colleagues, but by the many generations of students that she taught. It is with heartfelt sympathy that we write this note. Our thoughts and prayers are with you always.
Brad, My condolences to you and your family. Be assured that all of you are being held in the thoughts and prayers of your many friends.
Dear Brad and family,
Ildi was a dear friend and a wonderful colleague of mine for close to 30 years. Her warmth, compassion and devotion to her profession, her students and her colleagues and her love for her family are remembrances I shall always cherish. Ildi was a very special lady who has left an indelible mark on the future and she will be greatly missed. May wonderful memories of her sustain you in the days and years ahead.
Brad and Family
Please know how much Ildi was loved and respected by so many of us, in part because she was so openly expressive of her love for her husband and daughters. For many years, Ildi used to drop into my Chaplaincy office, plop herself down, and chat, expressing her appreciation for life, her marriage and family, her colleagues and students. I learned from her attitude of gratitude, and I enjoyed our conversations. I was always glad to see Ildi. When I arrived late for her Carleton retirement party, she teased me gently and with affection... and with that sparkle in her eye and smile. I really appreciated how she assisted with the Communion services at GStJ in the Fall and at Christmas this past year… another symbol of her love, commitment, generosity and faithfulness. When she told me about the original diagnosis years ago, and came by the Chaplaincy from time to time, she would always take some of the conversation to celebrate how full and happy her life was. We have lost a wonderful woman, you most of all. I hope to be with you on Saturday, but in the meantime please accept my deepest condolences. Tom Sherwood
I came to appreciate Ildi as both friend and colleague when our respective departments, Geology and Geography, assigned us as the co-presenters of the new `Introduction to Geoscience` course, in 1987. Our similar visions of embracing the subject`s breadth , and of recognizing the whole as more than the sum of the parts energized us and our similarly motivated teaching assistants. Ildi`s dedication to students in the classroom and as an advisor was outstanding. As Co-ordinator of Integrated Science Studies and as a long-term advisor in Environmental Science, her wise and gentle mentoring led many students to find their avenue through which to create their own unique specializations. Ildi will live on through the students she loved and who loved her. She was a wise colleague, a good friend and, in so many ways, a `beautiful` person. Her's was a life well lived.
Brad and family--Our deepest sympathy on your loss. As support staff working with Ildi over many years, I had a continuous learning experience and developed my love for geology. Our department was enhanced with her amazing knowledge and the personality to convey her love for the earth sciences to all of us, especially her students. Ildi's influence and memories will remain with us and enhance our outlook on the beauty of nature.
I'm so sorry to hear the sad news of Ildi's passing. My condolences to her husband, children and grandchildren.
Ildi helped us with our recruiting efforts for many years and was so warm and friendly with prospective students and their parents. Many years ago when we were starting our student ambassador program, I called Ildi to see if she had any Carleton students to recommend and send to our training session. She dismissed her class a few minutes early and sent over a bunch of wonderful, enthusiastic students to help with our recruiting efforts.
Ildi was a wonderful colleague and friend, and would always find the time to chat and to help others. I will miss her friendly face.
Once again, my condolences to Ildi's family. She was a real gem!
Jean Mullan, Director
Ildi was a colleague like no other. Every time I met her on the campus I came away in higher spirits and knew more than I had before. My condolences to the family. How you will miss her.
We all really enjoyed working with Ildi. She was so dedicated to the very many students that she taught, mentored and interacted with and she contributed so much to several Carleton programs, including our own.
On behalf of my department, I wish to express our deepest condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.
Dept. of Geography and Environmental Studies
Ildi was such a wonderful colleague. I worked with Ildi extensively while in the Dean of Science office, and she was always such a joy to have on committees. Her spirit, enthusiasm, passion for students, and overall high energy will be deeply missed.
My sincerest sympathies Brad, Lisa and Kati on the passing of your precious wife and mother. I will miss Ildi's friendship - her laughter, compassion, and our telephone calls. What a special person she was.
I know the sorrow, the pain and the disbelief.
My thoughts are with you and your family.
Ildi Munro was a wonderful colleague who became a friend. To her students in the Environmental Science and ISS programs, she was just amazing. Seemingly she not only knew every student, but also knew exactly where they were in their program and what each one needed to do next. She always had as much time for them as they needed. As Leila has touchingly noted in her tribute above, Ildi was “like her mom away from home” and I think she was just that to many others as well. Ildi loved all her students, and they, in their hundreds, loved her back. She was that warm and special human element that made both the programs mentioned above tick. I could not have run the Environmental Science program without her – she always had time for me too.
So many, from so many walks of life, will miss her greatly – her smile, her laugh, indeed just her presence.
I am so sorry to learn of the death of your wife, Ildi. I remember you both well from our days at UWO. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
My heartfelt thoughts are with you, Brad, Kati and Lisa. I wish you courage to face what you must, and the support of family and friends to get you through the tough time ahead. May happy memories of your lives together help fill the void that Ildi's absence leaves in your lives. I will remember her and her gentle smile with great affection. Jean Christie
We will always remember Ildi as the cousin we so admired. Her smile, warmth and laughter will always remain us. May her soul rest in the place she loved most of all. May Brad, Lisa, Kati, Samantha and Russell find the peace that Ildi has. Annie, David, Kiva, Calina and Shaman; Maria and John Tasony
Brad and daughters,

Ildi was a mentor and a good friend. Though I did not have the pleasure of knowing her before 2007, when I enrolled at Carleton, we were able to find a common ground through talks of our life experiences. My condolences to Brad, Lisa, Katie and your families in your loss. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, or were touched by her warm heart and generous understanding.
Ildi was like my mom away from home throughout my University career. She was a great councillor and friend. She always loved to talk and she was a great comfort. I recall many evenings where we could talk for hours on the phone. My thoughts are with the whole family, Ildi was a wonderful person that I'm so happy to have known.
Ildi was a wonderful woman and it was a privelege for me to know her so well. My condolences to the whole family. May her memory be a blessing to everyone who knew her and whose lives she touched.
With fondest memories of a friend from Science and a wonderful, gentle and caring person - Ildi's presence at Carleton will be greatly missed by all who knew her. With sincerest condolences to Ildies family and friends, Lisa Ralph
She touched many lives through her teaching but also her kindness. My sympathies to all who knew her. Love and respect.
I am one of those lucky souls at Carleton University who have spent time with Ildi, and many conversations about life, mature student challenges, the love of rocks, and the oceans. I met Ildi when I was an Aerospace Engineering student with a heavy load on my shoulder. She helped me out in every possible way, schedules, subjects and even my personal troubles in life - she was like a mom to me. With her influence and guidance, I moved to Integrated Science. I've taken 3 years off for my family and young children, and NOW -- I just signed in for Summer 2013, aiming to finished my degree in another year. I knew of her struggles, I know she is now in a better place now in God's blessings. My only regret is that she will not be able to see me graduate, I am pretty sure that she would love to see that day. Thank you Ildi for all your support, you are my rock and my guiding star. I will miss you so much, more than you know. This upcoming year for me will be tough, and very challenging. My heart aches for your presence. Love, Angelina Singson
You moved us like tectonic plates. You will be missed a lot. Thank you for a good class!
Ildi was a sensational mentor and a great professor. She was very kind, dedicated to her work and eager to help us in any way she could. She is going to severely missed by all who knew her--many students send their thanks for all her help, saying they would not be where they are today without her guidance.
Rest In Peace Professor Ildi
So sorry to hear of Ildis passing.
We will miss her here at Accent on Beauty, a warm and lovely client.
Our condolences go out to all the family and those who knew her.

Ildi, you were more like family than a colleague. You are missed very much.
Our deepest condolences . We very much enjoyed our conversations and visits with Ildi. Her devotion and love of her family , her thoughtfulness, her passion for geology and attentiveness to her students were exemplary. May God Bless her Soul , Love, Piri and Evan
I am sad that my friend and colleague Ildi can now only exist in our hearts and our memories. She was a very special person to me, starting when we first met on a rock outcrop near Sudbury in the spring of 1971, and continuing over the years at geological conferences and paleontological meetings.
I will miss her deep, infectious laugh, and being able to share our experience of being born into war torn Europe, and coming to Canada as immigrant children.
My heartfelt condolences to Brad, Kati and Lisa, and your families. She loved you all immensely.
We send you our sincere sympathy on the loss of Ildi.

I sought out an academic counsellor when I was struggling with Computer Science. My app't introduced me to this amazing woman, who guided me to the new Environmental Science Program. That set me on a course to meet my future wife. Ildi continued to be a role model throughout my time at Carleton and I still feel her influence today. My heartfelt condolences to her family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Kati.
Know that I hold you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. So sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Ildi - remembering when you were at our place for supper and Ildi commented on the large piece of coral on our wall. Every time I look at it I think of her.
