I just learned of the passing of my half sister. We shared the same father. My middle name,DUKE,was given by our Dad as he was at times called the Duke of Russia.

In the summer of '69 while starting my military life as a 2nd Lt. at Ft Benning, my mother suggested I contact Carol and visit with her in Ft. Valley. My wife, Jackie and I did visit with Carol and Ed and their wonderful close knit family in July '69. After our visit, we exchanged Christmas cards over the years. And then in Fall of 2011, shortly after retirement, Jackie and I drove to Chagrin Falls and spent several wonderful days with Carol. We exchanged information about our Dad. She knew key information about Dad that I didn't know and vice versa. We talked on the phone several times during the years that followed. Jackie and I still cherish our visit with her. She had such a strong sense of family and a wonderful sense of humor. We miss her.

Our mind is full of wonderful, fun times with Carol & Ed. After Ed's passing those fond memories continued with Carol. No matter what was going on in her life she was always upbeat and positive. We will miss her.

Our deepest sympathy to Carol's family. Such a lovely friend. (We are part of the Close family in Madison). I use her small cast iron skillet regularly.
