Mark Nerone Obituary

Memorial Mass for Lt. Mark A. Nerone, 62, of Kirtland, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Divine Word Church, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland. Fr. Dave Woost will officiate the Mass. Mr. Nerone peacefully left this world surrounded by his loving family Aug. 1, 2013, from his home in Kirtland.
Born Feb. 27, 1951, in Cleveland, he was a lifetime resident of Lake County, living in Mentor before moving to Kirtland.
Despite his time being shortened by Ocular Melanoma, Mark lived a very full and meaningful life. He served our country while in the Marine Corps, and was able to travel to many beautiful places during that time. He served his community as a Wickliffe firefighter for over 25 years. He worked tirelessly to care and provide for his loving family. He would help anybody at any time without hesitation or complaint. He was truly a giving man.
Mark enjoyed vacationing with his family and grandchildren in Siesta Key, Hilton Head Island, and the Smoky Mountains. He loved to walk the beach with his wife, build drip castles with his children and grandchildren, and hike in the mountains. Mark was also a talented artist and had a passion for photography and music. Working at the Cleveland Museum of Art brought him great pleasure. He was a lover of history, playing the guitar, sailboats, old westerns and Bruce Lee movies. He was a source of knowledge to us all.
Most notably, Mark was an incredibly brave man. As bravely as he fought fires, he fought cancer. He never complained once and he never stopped doing the things he loved. He was a stoic and beautiful man, and we are all honored to have known him and love him. ""He will live in our hearts forever.""
He was the beloved husband of 39 years to Patricia (nee Borrelli) Nerone; loving father of Rania D. (Zachary) Johnson of Kirtland, Micah A. (Adrijana) Nerone of Mentor and Marco R. Nerone of Mentor; cherished grandfather of Ninah, Cecilia and Elijah; dear son of Gloria (nee Pinto) Nerone; brother of Peggy (Tom) Ross, Susan Nerone, Bryan (Marion) Nerone and Patrice Nerone; uncle of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Marco Nerone.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McMahon-Coyne Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Route 615, north of Route 2), Mentor. Interment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

To our dear "neighbors"...our deepest condolences for a wonderful man..part of an amazing family. I will always remember your warmth and friendship to us as a family when we moved onto Hawk Ave. after emigrating to America from Wales. Probably the best spaghetti I'd ever had! Mom (almost 91) asked if I'd seen Susan at the class reunion and I was happy to report that I had. Love to you all at this time. God Bless. Susanne Burgess Casgar
