Robert B. Phillips, 92, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of Chardon, passed away Sept. 2, 2011.
He was born July 7, 1919, in East Claridon, and moved to Florida in January of 1983.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the Hambden Grange #2482; Peace River Grange #185 in Florida and also served in various capacities in the city, county, state and national Grange organizations. He was a member of the Chardon United Methodist Church. Mr. Phillips was very proud to have donated 21 gallons of blood in his lifetime. He served in the Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945 in the Pacific Theater as a P.F.C.
Mr. Phillips retired after 23 years of service as a Mail Carrier for the United States. Postal Service in Chardon.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Charlotte (Loomis); children, Joanne (Richard) Babnik of Chardon, Carolyn (William) Arwood of Kirtland, and Norman (Jamie) White of Port Charlotte, Fla.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Chardon.
