Robert D. Hunter, 89, a longtime resident of Medina, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
He joined the love of his life, Betty Dale, whom he met during the sixth grade. They were married for 67 years.
He was born April 29, 1924, in Wadsworth, to the late Wayne F. and Mabel E. (Rothacker) Hunter. Robert was a dairy and beef farmer for 35 years. He was a longtime member of Poe United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday school teacher, superintendent and board member. He was also a Montville Township trustee. Robert served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps aboard the U.S.S. Essex as a staff sergeant.
Robert is survived by his loving children, Mark (Cindy) Hunter of Houston, Texas, and Gwen (David) Carlson of Chardon; his dearest grandchildren, Kristin (Edward) Yeomans, Paul (Jenny) Carlson and Derek Alan Carlson; his great-grandchildren, Livia Priscilla Yeomans and Edward Carlson Yeomans; and his dear brother, Howard (Diana) Hunter of Medina.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gerald and Claude Hunter; and sisters, Lovina Orr and Mirian Cleckner.
Services will be held noon Friday at the Poe United Methodist Church, 6712 Wadsworth Road, Medina, OH 44256, with the Rev. James Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Poe Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church Friday.
