Ann, I am deeply distressed by his passing. He was a great musician and a great human being. He will be greatly missed by all who knew or heard him. John Dozier
The music world will truly miss this extraordinary musician.
I remember Isidor well and warmly from his time in Buffalo. I was touched to read the obituary and learn about his long dedication to spreading the joy of music.
I have only been privilieged to know Isidor and the Saslav family for about 3 years, but have been overwhelmed by the staggering amount of talent and intelligence they all possess...and Isidor in particular. All of Overton, TX will miss this spectacular gentleman.
My thanks to everyone who has written such lovely tributes and thoughts about my Dad; he was truly one-of-a-kind! Please keep in touch with us as we continue down Memory Lane thinking about my Dad and his musical contributions and literary legacy via so much of his work writing about GBS, Haydn, and so many of his other varied interests. I so agree with what my brother David posted below - this was a life well lived, and lived to the fullest. We will miss you, Dad - you'll still be with us each day as we experience great music, art, beauty, dance, poetry, and literature with hearts as big and as open as yours. All my love, Lea :)
My Dear Ann:
Linda and I just returned to Sarasota and heard this incredibly sad news of Isidor's passing. It is difficult for me to adequately express my love for this man and my profound appreciation for the role he played in my musical life. His mentoring in our student years in Chautauqua with regard to all matters musical has, to this day, immeasurably augmented my understanding of the art. My love for him is deeply internal. Linda's and my hearts go out to you in your time of sorrow - please accept our most heartfelt sympathies.
Ann, Lea, David, and Melissa,
May your broken hearts find peace and comfort from the outpouring of love and the tremendous, everlasting legacy of Isidor that touched so many lives, including ours. Our thoughts are with you and we share your grief in this difficult time. Isidor's words will perdure on Swans as part of the celebration of his remarkable life.
You know, Michel, those are the exact words that went through my mind as I wandered through his various collections over the past week, in East Texas. "Well done, Dad. Well done."
Musician and musicologist, teacher and collector, husband and father: Isidor lived passionately and will be remembered as a generous, kind and humorous man, and as a dedicated researcher in the field of Bernard Shaw studies. Well done, Isidor, well done.
My warmest thoughts to Saslav family. I knew Isador as G.B.Shaw friend, first through my husband Fred, and then on my own. He was always kind, helpful, and oh so knowledgeable about music, Shaw, and so many other topics. It was a pleasure to be in his company.
from Ann Heiligman Saslav,
TO EACH OF ISIDOR'S FRIENDS, STUDENTS, AND RELATIVES WHO HAVE WRITTEN TO ME AND TO OUR FAMILY ON THE GUEST BOOK......
Thank you so much for sharing your greetings and memories with us. I have read each one with pleasure and only wish that he had even more time to explore his amazing adventures into music and his interests into the writings of G.B.Shaw. His life was an adventure and filled with joy and humor and how he enjoyed his friends and family! Sincerely, Ann Saslav

Deepest sympathy to the Saslav family especially Ann as I go to know her thru my work along time ago at the Chamber of Commerce and her dad was my mother's doctor for many years and delivered me back in 1959. I shall cherish many memories of Isidor at Cass Tech High School in the mid-fifties, admiring his superb musical talent as concertmaster and intellectual. He always maintained poise and warmth in all he did. We, as fellow musicians placed him on a higher plane. He truly represented quality in all he did. He will truly be missed.
