CLARKE KINER Obituary


Clarke Kiner, 90, of Port Orange, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. Mr. Kiner was born in Columbus, Ohio to parents Clarence and Maude Kiner. He attended public schools in Columbus and was employed by Columbus Gas and Transmission for 34 years, retiring in 1985 as the Director of Engineering. Mr. Kiner was a mechanical engineer graduating from Chicago University and the Institute of Gas Technology in Chicago, Illinois. He also attended Penn State University where he completed Executive Management Curriculum. Mr. Kiner served in the American Gas Association for several years, including chairman of several committees and was a contributing author of a new Natural Gas Transmission handbook. Mr. Kiner was a World War II combat Veteran with the famed Rainbow Division serving in Field Artillery in France, Germany and Austria where he received two battle stars for the German campaign, plus a presidential citation. He also served in the former Army Air corps. Mr. Kiner was a member of the local chapters of the Elks and Moose Lodges. Mr. Kiner is survived wife Janice; and sons Clarke Kiner and Charles Kiner, of Columbus Ohio, Craig Kiner of London, England, and Jay Wazelle of Tampa, Florida; also survived by son's mother Vernette Widowson; grandchildren Jamison and Sierra Kinner of Ohio, Hadrian and Charlotte Kiner of London, England, Jeffrey and Charles Wazelle of Tampa, Florida; and great grandchildren Cole and Austin Karis of Charlotte, NC, and Dakotah Schell of McKinney, Texas, as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia. Services under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, on Monday, July 22, 2013 with a viewing from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and a service at 6:00p.m. Military services and Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida

Jan and family...we are so saddened to hear of the loss of your dear husband. We will miss his kind wave and beautiful smile as he worked in the yard.
