I have the pleasure of working with Eugene's daughter Patricia, and of knowing his son-in-law Flint and grandson Owen. I'm grateful for the life of Eugene because it brought these three people into mine. It is a pleasure to learn more about the man through his own pen. To Eugene's widow and other daughters, I'm sorry. I have enjoyed every story about Eugene and I look forward to more in due time.

Gene was a much loved and cherished member of Tomoka Poets. He was sharp of mind, witty, creative with verse and reliably late (which we all, including Gene, loved to laugh about). Our open mics and workshops benefited from his presence and will now be sorely lacking without him.

Gene will always hold a special place in our hearts and we will be forever thankful for having the opportunity to have his bright light in our lives, if only for a short time.

Most sincere condolences to Sanneke and his family.

Gene was a lovely man. He didn't mention in his own obit that he also volunteered to work with children in our school system, introducing them to poetry and helping them learn.
Also, he had that "Irish gift of gab" and you could just sit back and listen to his stories.

I never met the man, but after reading his auto-obituary I feel like I know him.
