Clarence Lennert Nordstrom, age 96, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013 in Port Orange, Florida. He was born on October 11, 1916 to Victor L. Nordstrom and Jenny N. (Andersson) Nordstrom of West Orange, NJ. He was predeceased by his brothers Victor and Arthur Nordstrom and his sister Myrtle Borgeson. Clarence graduated from West Orange High School and Rutgers College with a Bachelor of Science. He worked as the printing plant assistant manager for the Prudential Insurance Co. in Newark, NJ, retiring in 1978 after 42 years of service. Soon after he moved to Port Orange, Florida. Mr. Nordstrom served in World War II as a 1st Lt. Tank Maintenance and Repair Officer. He participated in the conquest of Normandy and Aachen while serving with the First Army. He wore five battle stars on his European campaign ribbon and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his heroic front line action at the Battle of the Bulge. Clarence enjoyed his time as a Boy Scout leader, fishing, golfing, woodworking, and outdoor activities of all kinds. He was proud to serve as a volunteer at Halifax Hospital for many years. Clarence is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jeannette; son Victor R. Nordstrom of Woodbridge, New Jersey; daughter Joan and her husband Don Bee of Eagle River, Alaska; three grandsons, Erik Nordstrom, Jesse Bee, and Vallen Bee; two granddaughters, Valerie Nordstrom and Karen Bee Travers; and two great grandchildren, Annika Bee and Tristan Travers.

Although I didn't know him personally, it is evident that Clarence was a much-loved man who led a very full and active life, having a great impact on all who knew him. May those who loved him find peace in their loss.
