Lonnie Morris Sumner, Jr. age 70, of DeLand passed away January 4, 2014 at Halifax Health Hospice in Orange City. Lonnie was born on September 10, 1943 in Lakeland, Florida and moved to DeLand at an early age with his parents Lonnie and Hazel Sumner. Lonnie retired from the County of Volusia after 30 years of service. He loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing and was an avid boater. He was a member of the Blackwater Yacht Club. Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Deborah after 35 years of marriage; daughters, Marissa and Tara Sumner; son, Mark Petscher; sister, Connie (Sumner) Anderson; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Lankford Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Interment will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corp.
