John E taught me more about professionalism, communication, leadership, courage, selflessness and humor in two years than I've learned anywhere else. Truly grateful for his wisdom and patience. Folks like John E are legendary to many of us; we shall not see his like again.

John E. gave me my first job in television... a place I still call home away from home decades later. He was a true leader and a force to be reckoned with in the world of television news... but John was kind and compassionate too and he loved a good joke. We were new and young in the business and he enjoyed our antics.
Johns' focus on community news made him a well-known, much sought after speaker and ambassador. He knew everyone and everyone knew him... that access opened doors for many of us as we learned the business of credible, reliable reporting.
When John left television, he was still in the area making a name for himself in many other ways.
I feel lucky to have known him and will long appreciate John E's legacy.

I light this candle in memory of Mr. Evans and the smiles he brought to so many. A kind man who will be remembered forever. May his light continue to shine in the hearts of his family and friends. My condolences to the Evans and Harrington families.

Such a great man!!! I remember dinners with him in Alexandria. He had such a way of making others feel like they were a part of something bigger that mattered. He was a class act! He will be missed!!!

John E. Evans was one of a kind and his passing seems like the end of an era in Central Florida.

John E. Evans, I first heard that unforgettable voice on the t.v. and then met the unforgettable man through his years of leadership and support to the American Red Cross. Thanks John E. for all those years, the unwavering volunteerism, the dedication and the humor.

John E. certainly was one of a kind and Red Cross was really fortunate to have had him as one of its most valued volunteers both locally and nationally. He will be so missed for his humor, wisdom and insight.
