It's the first time since your passing that I have been back to the Java Jungle. It was strange not to hear an "All Neal All the Time" set. Just want you to know I'm still thinking about you.

Rick played Harvest Moon for the first time at Java Jungle for me in honor of my husband Thom. He played it with four other guys and the one who had him rehearse it for two weeks, my brother Mike Whinnery. He played Harvest Moon for the first time last year on Holy Thursday last year. Rick waited for me to arrive and was so nervous as he told me it was the one Neil Young song he had never attempted before. After that night the played it every week until he passed away. How grateful I will always be to him for the great job he did singing this song in memory of Thom Davis. Thank you Rick--Ann and Gordan due this song now for me and Mike in gratitude to you ---love and miss you, Joanie

It's beautiful to know Rick had such good friends that thought so highly of him. You rest now Rick until I see you in paradise.

Happy Birthday, Rick. I can't believe a year has passed since we sat around the Java Jungle eating cake and celebrating your 60th birthday. I miss our conversations; I miss your wit; I miss hearing you sing and play guitar; I miss "All Neil all the time." Stay in tune. Rust never sleeps.

Happy birthday, Rick. If only I could wish you this in person. I want you to know how much influence you have been on my music...you renewed my respect for Neil Young, mine and alot of other people. We played "Southern Pacific" at my jam practice tonight, in honor of your birthday. You would be proud. I miss you.

After attending the "Life Celebration" for Rick, I realized just how much he will be missed. The pictures of his family, the videos, vintage posters, HIS GLASSES, Mini-Cooper parked out front brought out extreme emotions. His beautiful children, enormous number of friends, Mary's warm smiling face were all tributes to the man who left us too soon. The chapel owners kept trying to close the place at 8:00, but no one wanted to leave, knowing this was the time we most felt Rick's presence all around us. No one wanted to let go. His spirit was that strong.

Rick represented Neil Young so accurately, it was like requesting a song from Neil himself. "All Neil all the time" was how we described him. He was a walking encyclopedia of Neil Young information. He kept the Rusty Movemet alive at the Java Jungle. He explained that he mostly did songs that Neil had sung. Thus, rust never sleeps.

My i-pod has only been playing Neil Young songs since Rick's passing. He came over to our house a couple weeks ago to help me with some Neil Young downloads. He figured it was easier to travel 64 miles from New Smyrna to Ormond at 8:00 on a Friday night than to try to talk me through the process over the phone. That's just the type of friend Rick was.
Rick couldn't believe how slow my PC was. He said buy a Mac. He said, "All Apple all the time."
When he walked through my garage, Rick said I had as much "stuff" as Mary.He spotted my air conditioning and sheet metal tools and told me he had also been a "tin-knocker" in his past.

I'm glad I had the pleasure of knowing Rick. I'm glad he came over to my house. I'm glad he and Sandi had a chance to play "Harvest Moon" at JJ. I'm glad he was my friend.

Rick, long may you run.

We are shocked and saddened to hear of Rick's suddden passing. We were his neighbor's at East Wind Villa's. He was a true gentleman. The day we left to move away from New Smyrna Beach Rick came over and gave my Daughter ( a budding musician) a guitar & tuner. We will treasure it forever. He will be truly missed. Our sincere condolences to his family and friends. They don't make Men like Rick anymore, a true gem. A very special man.
