A great math teacher and a wonderful x-country coach. Wishing his family the best during this time.

Dear, sweet Bettyanne...I'm so very sorry. It's clear from all of these loving memories shared by so many who were touched by his teaching, coaching, mentoring and inspiring that he was much loved and respected. I know your heart is heavy and these days, and those to come, will be difficult. Please know that you are, and will be, in my thoughts, and my prayer for you is that God's peace, God's strength and God's comfort will be yours. Love you....and blessings to Glen Paul as well.

A wonderful teacher, remembered fondly. May his family find peace in the days ahead.

When running cross country, Jay Leonardi and I would go to my house after school before heading to the beach for practice. This particular hot September day our thermometer read 95 degrees. I told Coach Edson, "we couldn't practice that day because it was 95 degrees - in the shade!" He told me "don't worry about it, you're not running in the shade." So much for trying to get out of a practice. Bill Hazard class of 1978

My deepest regards for the family at this time of grief and loss. Dick leaves a great host of friends and students who will remember him as a great teacher, a dedicated coach, and a unique human being who ran his life's race with grace and dignity. -Jim Carlin

Thanks for your knowledge, encouragement, and inspiration in math and computers.

A "mechanic" of a teacher....... mine in 1965-66...... I won't forget the man who made mathematics organized and logical and whose sense of humor only grew as I got to know him when I finally became an adult (Dick would say, "When did that happen?"). Many will miss this man whom many admired.

What a great teacher and a great man. He had a way of commanding respect and attention without even seeming to ask for it. He taught two generations in my family and we will never forget him.

To Bettyann and Jeep,

A consummate professional, Dick gave of himself unselfishly in many capacities:
teacher, coach, facilitator of the annual Beach Run, and friend. My brother Jack was one of his students, and he attributes his success in the computer world due to the inspiration and instruction that Dick offered his students. As Dick and Staller walked the halls, students were in awe of the sheer knowledge housed in two people. His legacy will live long in the Seabreeze hall of fame.
Thinking of you and your family.
