Maurice Hunter

Elmer Maurice Hunter, born March 12th, 1955, entered peacefully into rest July 28th, 2018. He was surrounded by the Love of his sister Margaret E. Hunter, Niece Wendy H., his cousins Rick S. & Fred A., dear friends Roger & Cooki S. & William B, three Great Nephews, and one Great Niece. Maurice was an Ormond Beach Native born at Halifax hospital and a Seabreeze High School graduate. He traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana in the 1970's as an Underwater welding specialist and became a foreman of an advanced welding crew. Maurice eventually came back home to Ormond Beach to enjoy his life, continued welding and was a talented cook who enjoyed gathering family and friends for his famous cookouts. His strange humor and Gentle spirit will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. A service honoring his life will be held Saturday August 11th at 4:00p.m. in the Chapel of St. James Episcopal Church, (38 S. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice or plant a tree to honor the Life of Maurice Hunter.

His humor and gentleness were mentioned in his obituary. That is exactly what came to my mind remembering him from our childhood. He grew up just down the road on Halifax from me. All the best to Margaret and his family.
