We met John when attending a Boy Scout meeting with our Cousin's young son (who talks of his troop leader to this day). We observed John as a whirlwind of activity; He not only carried on a conversation with us, he would stop mid-sentence to answer a boy's question and then come back to us to finish his thought we had been discussing. Later, we ran into each other at a store in the Spfd area and he kindly recalled our names and our earlier discussion. We were impressed at what an outstanding leader he was for the young boys in his troop. No doubt he provided examples of good deeds, virtues and more. Our sympathy to all who loved and admired this good man.
Bac in 1976, there wa a young U.S. Congressman killed in a plane crash. I recall a lovely poem written about him and the others on the plane -- how they had been flying 'through' clouds and in the twinkle of an eye, they were all stepping 'on' clouds with angels. This is a magnificent thought and I pray you have all found solace in pondering such scenes, since the accident.

I will be praying for you, I can not imagine what you are going thru. Despite the years that have passed, I love you, and will keep you near to my heart.

A number of years ago, John and I went elk hunting in Colorado with several other men. Since then, I only visited with him once, but remember him as a warm, friendly individual and talented businessman. He will be missed by his many friends and business acquaintances.
