RALPH JAMES RADCLIFFE

Ralph James Radcliffe, 95, of North Fort Myers, FL passed away Tuesday October 15, 2013. He was born July 2, 1918 in Chicago, IL. Ralph was a pilot in US Army Air Corp 1942-1946. Lt. Col. in Air Force Reserves retired in 1978. He was car sales manager at Lattof Motors, Arlington Heights, IL. He was a member of Air Force Reserve Officers Assn., VFW and Elks Club. Ralph & wife Mary Lou moved to N. Fort Myers in 1985 from Des Plaines, IL. He was an avid golfer (proud 3 time hole-in-oner) still playing until his death.
Ralph is survived by his companion of 18 years, Patricia (nee Dwyer) Zimmerman; daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) Elwood of Murrieta, CA and Barbara (Glenn) Ober of Crystal Lake, IL; brother, Albert (Diana) Radcliffe of Lake Suzy, FL; five grandchildren, Kenneth (Cortney) Elwood, Bryan (Valerie) Elwood, Linda (nee Ober) (Scott) Schweiger, Paul Ober and Matthew Richards; five great grandchildren and 17 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Louise (nee Johnson); daughter, Bonnie Lynn Radcliffe; brothers, George and David Radcliffe; sisters, Edith Brickwood, Clarice Dannhauer and Helen Foley.
Per Mr. Radcliffe's request there will be no services at this time. His Family shared a Celebration of his life on his 95th birthday in July.
Arrangements are with National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, FL

I was just there to see you..Now I understand why you were not there..My heart is broken into a million pieces..I will miss you terribly Grandfather. I will never forget you and I love you very much..You are an amazing man, I have learned much from you and I only can hope I made you proud, at least once..I'm so sorry I could not have said goodbye one last time..My heart goes out to my family as well. <3

I played in a golf tournament with him and right next to the hole they had the old "whoever gets the ball closest to the bottle of Vodka from tee wins it." He not only got close, but HIT it. He then turned to me and said cooly..."Thats my favorite Vodka."
