Faye,Paul was much more than an eye doctor to our family after our daughter Jamie was born. He went above and beyond 30 years ago and the result of that is a seeing healthy young woman. Dana, I am so very sorry for the loss of your Dad. Our hearts are with you all, Carol and James Zealy
I just got the news since I was out of town. How well I remember......back when I worked for him. Faye, you will always be remembered too. You are in my prayers,

Faye, please accept my sympathies and condolences in the time of your loss. I rarely read the obits in the Greensboro paper but our classmate Lib Trent Baldwin sent me word of Dr. Simel's passing. May God bless and comfort you in your time of sorrow.
Faye we would like to offer our deepest sympathy.
Al and Barbara Heller
Faye, please accept my condolences on the loss of Paul. He was a great man, and you and he were great influences on me and my family as we grew together as neighbors. Condolences to David, Bruce, Dana, and Mark as well. Thank you all for helping me as a Christian understand the Jewish religion and heritage.
Paul performed RK surgery on my eyes back in the 90's and I have been without corrective lenses ever since. We joke now that I have one Democrat eye and one Republican eye which help me see the world much better!
I'm sorry to hear of Dr Simel's passing. He was my eye doctor when I was just 4 years old back in 1967 and had to have eye surgery for "lazy eye" -- such a sweet man. He apologized for having to clip my long beautiful eyelashes to do the surgery.
Thoughts and prayers to all!
Dr Simel was the best doctor I have ever had the privilege of knowing. My deepest sympathies go out to the Simel family.
Faye, I am so sorry to hear of Dr Simel's passing. He was a wonderful, caring doctor and I enjoyed the time that I worked for him (6/86 to 9/96). My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of your loss.
So very sorry to hear this... Thoughts and prayers for you and your family
Dr. Simel and the privilege of knowing him changed my life. He was a teacher, mentor, great example and inspiration for me. I will always think of him fondly and all that he made possible for me. Working with him and learning from him was an honor. Only he would understand my next comment but I have to say it, "Cornea, cornea."
Cousins Laura and Roland are so sorry about the passing of Paul. Our thoughts are with all the Simels.
In addition to his many accomplishments, Paul was a warm, loving, and delightful person who was fun to be around. And he was enormously proud of his family. He will be deeply missed. Much love to you all.
Faye, I am so sorry to hear of Paul's passing. There are so many fond memories of working with him. You even joined us there for awhile. Paul was indeed a wonderful doctor who put all his patients first, no matter who they were or what they had. I have worked for quite a few MDs in the past, but Paul was tops in my book. I will pray for you and the family during this difficult time.
It was a pleasure to meet him on multiple occasions and come to know him through his interactions with his family as well as through his strong advocacy and support of his grandson, an alumnus of The Early College at Guilford.
A kind, generous and a man with a wonderful laugh. A devoted father and grandfather. A loving husband to Faye, who he adored and she him. He will be missed, dearly, be his family and the many he helped throughout his life.
