Just saw this on a face book page. My dad Joseph C. Skowron had Moose come to St. Adalbert's Holy Name Mens Club, East St.Louis,IL many years ago, probably in the 50's. My dad wrote to him sometime in 2008 he was very proud of Moose. My deepest sympathy.

I'm so sorry about the loss of Bill "Moose" Skowron. Years ago Moose had invited me and my husband to his restaurant so he could sign photos I have of him and my Dad at Yankee Stadium. I regret that I never made the trip and to meet him in person. I wish I knew why my Dad was at the stadium and standing next to Moose and Mantle. I never had the chance to ask my Dad.
My prayers go out to the Skowron family. May he R I P

Dear Skowran Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Mr. Skowran was a friend of my dad, Bill Ivory, and I remember Lynette as well. His was the first World Series ring I every saw! He was such a gentle man as well as a gentleman. Please know that you are in my prayers.

Today, I opened my weekly copy of Sports Illustrated to learn of the passing of Bill Skowron. One of my earliest fond recollections was attending a Yankees-Tigers game in old Briggs Stadium in Detroit in 1957. I was wearing a Yankees uniform which my father had bought me. Our seats were near the Yankees bullpen. On that day Bill was standing in the bullpen with a few Yankee relief pitchers; he noticed me in my uniform, smiled, pointed up to me and let his teammates know they had a Yankees fan to support them. It was a moment that I've treasured all these years and have nostalgically recalled when my own sons wore the uniform as small children. Thank you for the memories, Bill. (Toronto, Canada)
