I would love to pass along this painting I did many years ago of Walter holding his grandson to his grandson. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. I am from Canada and can be reached at hock@sympatico.ca or on facebook

Finally, I can call you the "last true reporter of the news"...honest and believable for every word spoken, every thought represented and every story presented...you were the person I watched every night...I trusted what you said, because it was the truth...and you were able to convey your dedication and conviction of the story at hand. You will probably never know the impression you made on me or the "bar" you set for others that follow, but you will always know in your heart that you were true to your listeners and what you said was correct. I will forever remember the day you reported on the death of President Kennedy...to see the sorrow in your eyes and hear the tremble of your voice was more than I could bear..it is etched upon my heart forever. You are a stalwart giant in the news, and will never be replaced by anyone else. May you bring joy to the rest of your comrades in rest as you did to us in life. And that's the way it is..........

A very insightful man, so sorry for your loss. In the scriptures (Isaiah 57:15) we read: "For this is what the High and Lofty One, who is residing forever and whose name is holy, has said: “In the height and in the holy place is where I reside, also with the one crushed and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly ones and to revive the heart of the ones being crushed." These verses are very comforting when we lose a loved one. bjluv333@comcast.net

For Walter Cronkite
"The voice of honesty."

WEEP NOT FOR ME

Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.

Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.

I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.

Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.

Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.

Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.
