Sherri and Tim, I hate to hear the news about Jay. Him and I were close friends in high school and awhile after. I just turned on the tv and tuned into to a fla and Florida state game . Knowing jay was an avid Florida state fan made me think of him and since we have not seen each other in years I googled him to see if I could find his phone number and found this. I wish I would have tried sooner. Very sorry to find this out god bless you all.

Jay was quite a character. I went to High School with him about a hundred years ago at Warren Central. We played football together a few years until he decided it wasn't for him. It took me a few more years to figure that out also. Jay was very smart but it was not cool to be smart in those days. Maybe it still isn't. It was cool, however, to be very smart with the girls. And he was. I was not able to follow him there. He had me beat. :) He signed my yearbook way back around 1974 and referenced both our cars. We both had Mercury Comets around 1962 vintage. His blue, mine, uh, a few colors. He wrote he would win a race. We never tried. It would have been a "slow" race I'm sure. He worked at Lamar Loe's car shop for a while where he "helped" me remove their emblem from my new Buick Regal in 1977 and I know he joined the Navy. His dad worked with my dad at the paper mill I believe.

He was a big practical joker. He once had a friend "nudge" me while he was behind me on his hands and knees. I fell backward in front of a bunch of our high school friends. You can only imagine how embarrassing that was. I could have killed him. But that was impossible. Jay made high school tolerable whenever I was around him. But I never "trusted" him again. :)

God Bless you Jay and your family. You will be missed. I'll see you on the other side. You'll probably trip me there again. :)
