Phillip Earl Beckley "Papa," of Fairbanks, formerly of Pittsburg, Kan., passed away April 13, 2013.
Phillip was born in Pittsburg, Kan., and graduated from College High School.
Phillip was married to Para Lea Porter on Sept. 28, 1955; they were married 57 years.
Phillip retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1976. Phillip lived in Fairbanks from 1966 to 1984, returning to Fairbanks in 2010. He worked for the state of Alaska for several years and then owned and operated a real estate and rental business until his retirement. He attended Denali Bible Chapel in Fairbanks. He enjoyed gardening and studying history. He also was actively involved in The Gideons International and American Legion Post 0176 in Mulberry, Kan.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Para Lea Beckley; son Timothy and daughter-in-law Lynnette Beckley; daughter, Phyllis and son-in-law Jim Benich; daughter-in-law, Marion Beckley; brother, Jim Beckley; sisters, Rose Burdick, Barbara White, P.J. Fliss and Patsy Edwards; grandchildren, Tabitha and Cary Sinnett, Joshua and Joslyn Beckley, Rebekah Starkey, Kimberly and Matthew Fuller, Micah and Jaleah Beckley, Daniel and Jennifer Beckley, Lacie and Adam Barr, Amy and Steven Castello and Isaac Beckley; great-grandchildren, Cayge, Dawson, Bryce and Weston Sinnett, Jaren, Jacob and Jillian Beckley, Ian, Zoe and Eva Fuller, Brody and Brianna Beckley, Lila Barr and Lily, Addisyn, Karis and Amelie Castello; and many other family members and friends.
Phillip is preceded in death by son, Phillip Lee Beckley; parents, Elmer and Pearl Beckley; brother, Elmer "Tug" Beckley; and sisters, Judith Pratt, Almedia Meier and Charlotte Rider.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Gideons International, 515 Pearl St., Pittsburg, Kan. 66762.
