I am very sorry to learn of Professor Burdick's passing; a great loss to future engineers. I think often of him, and Professor Rice and Professor Mendenhall, when I reflect back on what trials it must have been for them to try and teach us the fundamentals of engineering. Those of us that learned from them helped build a better Alaska. Later Professor Burdick tried to convince me to finish my advanced degree. Sadly there were other priorities, but I truly appreciated his lasting support. Thanks,

John was a great contributor to the engineering program at the University of Alaska. I remember the course I took from him as one of the best of my undergraduate education. He was certainly a standout in the history of engineering on the Fairbanks campus.

Matt

Fran and I were sorry to hear about your dad and we offer our condolences. He was a great colleague during our joint tenure at UAF before his retirement. He was number one with the dry sense of humor but there was always some solid advice buried in the comment. By all measures a great engineer and friend.

Matt, we are sorry to see of your dad's passing. He was always fun to chat with, and the visits to his home with he and your mom were delightful evenings. He will be missed by so many in the community; a good man gone!
