Dear Starnes Family,

Larry (then Cpl) Starnes was a Drill Instructor in my Series at MCRD San Diego in 1971-1972. He was a critical part of an outstanding DI team along with SSgt Bosch and Sgt Taglieri. He was also one a the few DIs on the field with the rank of Corporal but he more than held his own. A great guy, a great Marine....he, and your family, are in my thoughts and prayers. Kevin Kennedy, Col, USMC (Ret)

I ran across this today. I'm sorry for the late entry, but I was compelled to leave a note in hopes that his family would see it. I was a recruit of his when he was a drill instructor. All I have to say is thank you. His impact has been felt ever since. I am who I am today in part to him. Semper Fidelis.
