Dr Nero lovingly cared for 5 of my cats over 17 years, and gently helped me say goodbye to 3 of them. I was about to bring him the 4th when I heard he was gone. Though it's been awhile, for me the news hurts like it just happened. He will always be missed by the many lives he touched.
Sincere - if belated- condolences to his wife, family, and staff~
Years have passed, but he will never forgotten. Miss you and your kindness. Look down on my cats all the cats you helped. God Bless my prayers are still with you. RIP...........
I think of Tom everyday
I wrote a song for Tom, for some happy moments in his life take a look..
He taught me how to cook. Thanks Tommy.
I have followed the guest book entries for a year now - I still cannot believe Dr. Nero is gone - I think about him often and my last visit with him shortly before he passed when he took photos with his phone of my beautiful cat. I think he will stay in the hearts of many people and the wonderful cats he helped over the years. I feel his spirit lives on at the clinic. Time does help heal but no one will ever replace our dear Vet - Dr. Nero
Within a couple of days of learning of Dr. Nero's passing, my path unexpectedly crossed with a sweet black and white cat, with markings very similar to my cat, Buster, whom Dr. Nero had taken such great care of many years ago! I never thought I'd get another black and white cat, but it was clear to me this little guy was meant to be mine and he was a gift from above. Angus has a great personality, is very much his own "person" and without a doubt, I believe Dr. Nero had his hand in sending him to me! Thank you so much, Dr. Nero, for your many kindnesses and generosity of spirit … on earth and in heaven. Continued love and blessings be upon all your loved ones.
As this book will be closing, I can't help but reflect back on what a wonderful person Dr Nero was. So calm and reassuring, all my cats loved him. Even the most difficult moments were made a bit more bearable by his demeanour. He always took time to explain things and answer questions, never just brushed you off.
My condolences to the entire family.
Dr. Nero will never be forgotten, his kindness and love for our pets will live on forever.
I've been ever mindful that this book will close soon, knowing for the past year that I mustn't let it go without adding a few thoughts. It has seemed a daunting task. What does one say when one's world is shaken by the shock and heartbreak of losing someone who was such a crucial part of that world?
Last April I posted of Dr. Nero's passing to a small group of people who are especially thoughtful and caring. One replied (and I'm sorry to paraphrase, because he said it so beautifully) that sometimes the sudden loss of someone in your community, particularly a deeply trusted support person with whom you're very familiar, though not necessarily a close friend, can be more shattering than other losses. There's something about that loss that deeply rocks one's sense of stability and comfort.
I started with Dr. Nero a year after Cat Clinic opened, and from the first moment, I knew I was in the right place. Through the years of routine checkups, a few illnesses and treatments, and the inevitable sayings of goodbye to our precious friends, his calm expertise was of supreme comfort. I treasure the memories of our all too brief conversations whenever he had a few extra moments -- about cats and their ways, about their (and our own) nutrition -- and while it would have been wonderful to discuss flying and other mutual interests, there was just never quite the time for it.
To Betty Nero, I want to say that through the sadness of last April, I thought then, and I still do, that the most important thing in the world was to preserve Dr. Nero's gift to the community, that any loss of the Cat Clinic he created and believed in would have left a crater at the heart of Danbury. We will never be able to thank you enough for keeping his vision alive. We loved him, and had the highest regard for his practice.
With condolences and best regards always,
Charles, Nathan, and Kristi
And of course: Muffin, Taffy, Jack, and Barrett, who have passed on -- and Poe, Mikey, and Kali, who continue to enrich our lives every day.
It's been a little over a year now, your 1 year birthday in heaven, now with your mom and dad, God Bless you all, I miss you so much Tom, so many times I think, how I wish I could talk to you, ask you about something, or just to say thank you for being there and being you...you were the best thing to happen to me for my furry babies...I am pretty sure you must know how much you were loved, cared about, respected and you are missed so greatly by so many! Wish you were here! Heaven is so lucky to have you! God Bless, Grace
This book will close in a few days, but Tommy's book goes on. He was a good friend, a Renaissance man, and an unforgettable character in our lives. See you around, T-Bone.
I have been with Dr.Nero since he began his practice in 1993 with my cat Patches & then for the next 18 years with my cat Guinness. He was always so gentle and sensitive with not only my cats but to me, especially when we were going through such difficult times when they were sick. I am so sad to have heard of his passing. I will miss him & wish all his family and staff strength through this loss. I am in disbelief.
It's hard finding a good vet, so when we took our (3) cats in for checkups, I met Tom, I felt like we finally found someone we could trust, respect, like, and his vibe was such that you coudn't help but feel a warm, generous spirit inside. I first heard of his passing this past summer, and like many others here, was in shock! How could such a healthy, vibrant, good person be taken already? Because only the good die young, and I guess he accomplished what the universe set him out to achieve. My heart goes out to his friends, families and loved ones, so for them, know this: Our souls are eternal, which there is more and more evidence supporting this phenomenon, See http://www.soulsurvivor-book.com/, and http://wedontdie.com/home.htmld
May you find peace in this life. We'll all get to see Tom in the next!
May God Bless you you have done a tremendous job my heart goes out to the family
I found out about Dr. Nero's passing from an acquaintance to whom I recommended the Doc to. I was totally shocked, and wish that I had heard about it back in April so that I could have paid my respects. He had been my cat's vet for fourteen years and I would not trust anyone else with her health, and he always treated her with respect, even when she was at her grumpiest (which was more often as she grew older!). He will be greatly missed.
GOD BLESS YOU FOREVER....HEAVEN HAS GAINED AN ANGEL..........
I was just at the office picking up meds for one of my cats Leo when I found out about Dr. Nero. I was so shocked and upset. I couldn't believe it. One of my friends told me to go to him for my cats. I was new to having cats and he answered all my questions. It started with 2 cats and now I have 5. One of them Leo had some problems which he solved. He was so kind and truly loved the animals. I loved going there with them 2 at a time. 2 sisters one tough and 2 brothers also one tough. I remember him saying to me after they got their shots and one he couldn't examine. I'd say is he or she alright and he would say if they act like that they are healthy. My single cat Patches is a big cat. He would hold her and say. You feel like you about 20 pounds and laugh. He will be greatly missed my many, me and my cats. May God Bless him and his family and friends.....Heaven has gained a special angel whom will take care of the animals up in heaven and look down on the ones down here. He will live forever in our hearts and prays. RIP and thanks for being there for me and my cats you had such a special gift......
I am beside myself today and in shock having just found out that out that Dr. Nero passed away in April. It's hard to explain but it felt like I just found out I had lost a close friend. He was a great vet and I have trusted him implicitly with my two cats since 1995. My condolences to his wife, family and close friends. He was a very special man. Rest in peace Dr. Nero. You will be deeply missed.
To Betty, Virginia, and the Nero family,
I recently found out about Dr. Nero's passing from a veterinarian that I work for. I wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear of your loss. 10 years ago I worked at the Cat Clinic for Dr. Nero. He was a great veterinarian and truly loved his job and all of his patients. My thoughts and prayers are going out to all of you at this time.
I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Nero saved our cat Oscar's life. He was the only person who recognized the issue and immediately treated Oscar. Please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences. We will truly miss Dr. Nero.
They say the hurt of losing a loved one gets better over time, God speed to Tom's family and friends. Betty, I loved seeing the YouTube picture tribute you created of Tom for us, it brought to me a lot tears and smiles. Thank you. Tom, you were loved by so many, our four legged babies and their "mommy's and daddy's". We were so blessed by knowing you.
I want to tell you how sad I am to know that my dear friend Tom passed away. He was a wonder doctor to my cats, Alice and Trixie for their 19 years.
I hope time and memories help the hurt you are feeling now, just know who much Tom's good work affected all of us.
He will truly be missed.
Thank you all for your kind words and for sharing your memories. Click the link for my video tribute to my husband.
Deepest sympathies. Thomas is watching over you.
I would like to offer my condolences to Dr. Nero's friends, family, and colleagues at the Cat Clinic. He was far and away the best vet I ever brought any of my animals to. I just went to get my cats their prescription food yesterday when I found out and was crushed to see this obituary on display. What he has done with the Cat Clinic is truly remarkable and he will live on through the clinic. This is a huge loss for our community, and to Dr. Nero's friends and family, you have my deepest condolences.
I'm so sorry and sending prayers to the family, friends and staff of Dr. Nero. I have always gone to him since getting my first cat back in 1996. I feel like I've lost a close friend.
I had to pick up my Mickey's medicine and was very shocked to hear of the passing of a great docter. My prayers go out to his wife and family, friends & to the employees that worked for him.
My family & all the many cats we had were very blessed to have him in our lives and will truly miss him. God has a great docter working for him now & my God be with you all at this time.
video tribute for Tom
I am very saddened and shocked at Dr Nero's sudden passing. I have been bringing my cats to him for the last 7 years, and he has always been very patient, kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Of all of the vets I have been to, Dr Nero is the only one that seemed to genuinely love the cats - he would always hold them and cuddle them at least a little bit after the exam, which none of the other vets did. My deepest sympathies go out to everyone at Cat Clinic and all of Dr Nero's family and friends.
I would like to send my deepest condolences to the Nero Family for the lost of their beloved Dr. Nero. I knew Tom as a young boy and then years later he became my cats' doctor. He was the best and a true professional. I as well as my cats will miss him. May you rest in peace.
TO THE FAMILY OF DR. NERO WE ARE SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS.WE WERE SO SHOCKED TO LEARN OF DR. NERO'S DEATH. WE WERE PATIENTS OF HIS FROM THE BEGINNING AND OUR FAMILY STILL BROUGHT THEIR CATS TO THE CLINIC. MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND GIVE YOU COMFORT. ROGER AND BETTY LOCKWOOD
SUMMERFIELD FL FORMALLY OF DANBURY CT.
dear betty, our hearts are broken for you. praying God gives you strength and calm one day at a time. we love you. marilyn & tom brooks (your cousins)
I am shocked and saddened in ways I can not express. I have been going to Dr. Nero with my cats since 1996 and I couldn't have had a better veterinarian EVER. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and staff.
My husband and I made a routine stop at the Cat Clinic yesterday and were stunned to learn of Dr. Nero's death last week. The tears of the staff as they relayed the news were visible proof of the respect, affection, and appreciation they felt for Dr. Nero as a veterinarian and as an individual. We had complete confidence in him and feel an emptiness in his passing and great sadness that so much goodness has gone. Our deepest sympathy goes to his wife, family, and friends.
I am in shock. We just brought our cat Sadie into his new place in the Germantown. He will be missed by so many of us and our pets. Prayers go out to his family sorry for your loss. Great man.
I would like to add my condolences to Dr. Nero's family and the staff at the Cat Clinic. As so many others have said, he was a wonderful, caring, compassionate doctor and person. I can't believe he will not be caring for Duke or any future cats any longer. He helped me through the passing of 3 previous cats over the many years we visited the Cat Clinic, 1 as recently as last month. With deepest sympathy, Terry Clayton & Jocelyn Clayton
We extend our heartfelt synpathy to Dr Nreo's family - he was a special vet and we had been with him since the beginning - so gentle and caring -that is a gift not many people have.
A very sad time for all of us -
Dr. Nero touched my life in ways he could have never known. He offered me a job as a vet assistant when I was 17 during a job shadow day. I glady accepted and began working for him. He taught me so many things about medicine and medical procedures as well as smart business practices. This led me to where I am.today, about to begin nursing school and eventually become a FNP and run my own practice. He was one of the main reasons I chose this career path. He was such an amazing, caring person. He truly cared about each one of his patients and their owners. He would take the time to explain procedures, medications and treatments. He will be missed by so many. He was an incredible DVM and person. All of us who were blessed to have known him are better for it.
Today we gathered to honor you and give our love and support to your dear wife, Betty and your family. You were taken away too soon from all of us, maybe that sounds selfish, I think not, our babies have lost a fantastic vet and friend, Tom, you were loved by so many, I hope you knew that. Rest in peace my sweet friend, I know my Sebastian was up there to greet you, you remember him, "Tri-pod", please give him a hug for me....
Shock and disbelief hit me last night 4/9/13 when I asked at Elmers Diner to see the daily paper. While looking at the recent deaths page I saw Dr. Thomas Nero's name. In 1993, I adopted 2 cats: Belen and JJ (mother & son-their owners were moving back to England). I always brought them to the Cat Clinic for check-ups, boarding, and a very difficult an dangerous surgery for Belen, which turned out to be very successful-MANY THANKS TO DR. THOMAS NERO! For the first few years, his mother Mrs. Nero helped him out at the Cat Clinic. Two cat quilts used to line my cat carriers were purchased by me. They were hand made by Mrs. Nero. She has an excellent memory and recalled my buying paint at the Nero's Paint store on Elm Street in the late 60's to paint my mother's kitchen & living room. His wife who is an artist, whom I have never met, made a wonderful paper mache cat and ceramic mural for his office. His family was truly involved with his life. I no longer have any cats and am very greatful for the wonderful care Belen and JJ received in the Cat Clinic by Dr. Nero.
So very sorry for the loss.
Very sorry for your loss.
I am devastated to hear the news of the Doctor's passing. He was one of the kindest souls I ever had the chance to meet; it was as if he truly could talk to my pets. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
This picture of Tom is exactly how I remember him. I worked with Tom when he first started out at Bethel Vet and couldn't believe how compassionate he was toward the animals. My best memory and the one I will be forever grateful, was when Tom came over on Easter morning to put my dog out of his misery. My deepest sympathy to all Tom's family and friends. He truly was a very special person.
So sorry for your loss. Dr. Nero will be missed by myself, Tazz, Furby and Joel. He was so great with myself, Tazz (when he broke his leg) and George (who died last year a 4 with heart trouble).
Dr. Nero, it's heartbreaking that you are gone. You were an amazing vet and human being, so kind and gentle. You really loved cats and enjoyed each one's unique personality. All our cats had the best possible care from you and your staff, even Indy Boy of the red sticker. You will be greatly missed by all.
WoW wha news!!!. We've only greeted each other a few times but during those timse you were so pleasant. My deepest prayers go out to your family.
Tom was one of the first veterinarians I worked for in Bethel. He was a fantastic mentor, fabulous chef, and phenomenal guitarist. He will be truly missed.
Our cats and their human proprietors pass along their well-wishes to the staff and family of Dr. Nero. Dr. Nero was a very special person who combined skill, compassion and practical sense in treating all of our cats. Dr. Nero will be sorely missed. We still can't believe he is gone and so quickly.....
Such a great person and a inspiration to many, he will be so missed by so many. God has a plan and we are all liucky to have had Tom for the little time we did.... Too soon for us all to see him go.
Dear Betty, I'm so sorry for your loss. My condoleneces to you and your family.
Dearest Betty, I am so saddened to hear of Tom's sudden passing. Without a doubt he was a gift and gem! His wonderful energy, mean guitar playing and great hugs will be sorely missed. I am grateful and blessed to have known him. Keeping you and the family in my prayers.
So very sorry for your loss. Our thoughts & prayers are with you all.
Betty, my heart is just breaking for you and no words can adequately express my sorrow. Tom gave our cats excellent care and was always sensitive to the financial impact of multiple surgeries, often discounting costs for us during tough times. He will not be forgotten. You are in my heart and prayers.
I am heartbroken upon hearing news of the sudden passing of Dr. Nero! My thoughts and prayers are with his cherished family and beloved staff at the Cat Clinic. May you find a measure of comfort in the outpouring of all the love people have for him. He was an amazing human being and I will be forever grateful to all that he did in his care for Buster and Wyatt as well as the many kindnesses he extended to me. From the moment I placed Buster in his caring hands in 1993 to the last time I had Wyatt there, I always knew they would receive the best care possible because that is how Dr. Nero was - he always gave his best to his patients. It was easy to see how the loving compassion and concern he expressed to all of the animals placed in his care translated to all aspects of his life and how he lived it - with joy, humor, quality and integrity. I celebrate his remarkable life and from the depths of my heart, I was honored to know him. Heaven has now welcomed another St. Francis!
My vet, Tom Nero, died last Thursday.
I was very sad, and I cried.
My cats came and curled up next to me. They were sad, too.
They told me I should think of ten good things about Tom so I could tell them to everyone else who cared about him.
So I did.
1. Tom did not suffer fools gladly.
2. Tom demanded and gave excellence in all things.
3. Tom was generate and compassionate to all animals and to (most) people.
4. Tom loved to make things that made the world around him a better place: like music, photographs, houses, offices, kitchens, food and friends.
5. Tom brought an extraordinary level of creativity and craftsmanship to everything he designed and built.
6. Tom had that rarest of qualities, common sense.
7. Tom believed in right, wrong and justice – even after all these years.
8. Tom had an impish, sardonic wit.
9. Tom was brave.
10. Tom loved cats.
Words are not enough to exprve welcoemd our sorrow and loss. Love to you Betty.
I am so sorry for your loss...I've known you guys for over 30 years. I haven't seen Tom in years but would always catch up in May around our respective birthdays. Our deepest sympathy. Robin, Doug, and the kitties Chester and Max.
We have such amazing and fond memories of our adventures in the Philippines, where we met Tom. We romped around in our early twenties and lived life to it's fullest. Always feeding off one anothers enthusiasm for life! Tom "showed us the ropes" many times in our travels! We were fearless and laughed our way through many culturally shocking situations. His creative juices always flowing, inspiring us all. He taught us how to see things through the eyes of wisdom, humor and reason.
Tom will live on forever in our hearts!
We love you Betty!!!
I am so sorry to learn this.
Doctor Nero, your legacy and clinic will always shine on. Cats and their owners will alway be grateful for what you have done for us. God Bless you, and my deepest sympathy to the Nero family and workers at the Cat Clinic.
T, I'll see you again FURTHER ON UP THE ROAD.
T, I'll see you again FURTHER ON UP THE ROAD.
My cats will miss you Dr Nero as I will
Dr. Nero - we will miss you greatly. Thank you for taking care of us over the years and scratching us behine our ears. We loved you for that !
Tom was very much a Dr. Dolittle, of sorts, in his uncanny ability to talk to the animals. His soothing nature calmed even the craziest of my cats and I will be forever grateful to him and his amazing staff for the loving care and concern always shown to my beloved pets. I do believe that Harley and Winslow understood the very sad news I conveyed to them, through my tears.
My heart goes out to Tom's family, friends and incomparable staff. What a legacy he has left behind.
My heart is broken. Dr.Nero you lef us much to soon. Your professional, compassionate and human manner are qualities I won't forget. There will always be a place in my heart for you. Thank you for all the loving care you gave to all my kitty cats over the years. Peace and comfort to your family, friends, staff and all your clients. We'll miss you dearly.
There are no words to express how we feel at this moment. I'll always remember how happy Dr. Nero looked in the new office.
Tommy, we called you cousin but you were like a brother to all of the Shakers. Farewell brother.
We were shocked to learn of the tragic passing of cousin Tom at such a young age. These things shouldn't happen. He was a wonderful guy and we will all miss him. The world has prematurely lost one of the good ones! Love, Richard, Kathy, Alice and Jimmy
My deepest sympathies to Dr. Nero's family and the staff at the Cat Clinic. He treated Riley with so much care and respect (although Riley is a handful). Dr. Nero will definitely be missed by all his patients.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Tom's family. He was a great man and it was always a pleasure to see him throughout the years at Swift Aviation. We will miss talking with him and hearing about his flying experiences very much. Please let us know if you need anything.
My cats weren't happy to see Dr Nero but I always was. I loved the atmosphere of the waiting room, the staff - Dr Nero created the most unique, calming environments for my cats, and it was obvious he loved his work. His kindness and compassion were evident when difficult decisions were necessary. He will be missed.
My deepest sympathy to Dr Nero's family and his wonderful staff at the Cat Clinic. His compassion and understanding when I had to put my Peewee to sleep will never be forgotten.I am saddened that my Gizmo will never get to know him.You will be missed.
Our deepest sympathies to Dr. Nero's family, friends and staff. He treated every cat that walked into his office as his own pet, and every person as his own family. Dr. Nero's kindness, skills, and joy of his work and life will be sorely missed and never replaced. Thank you, Dr. Nero, for everything you did for all my feline friends (past and present)
-Emily, Constance and Carlton
My deepest sympathy to the Nero Family and the Cat Clinic Family. Thank you Dr Tom for your caring and compansionate ways. You will be missed by all who had to pleasure of knowing you.
I am so sad and shocked to hear the news. Dr. Nero was regarded as much more than Reese and Gizmo's vet. After knowing Tom and his practice for almost 20 years, we always felt like part of his family. Always soft spoken words, great advice and care, and friendly smiles whenever we were there. My deepest, sincere sympathy to his family and his extendend family, the staff at the Cat Clinic. We will miss him and remember his kind ways always.
Our deepest sympathy to Dr. Nero's family and his staff at the Cat Clinic. We were deeply saddened by the news. Dr. Nero was a wonderful person and an exceptional and caring vet. We and our four cats Audrey, Mindy, Emily and Merlin will miss him.
Angie and Al Tonnessen
My thought and prayers are with Tommy's family. Tommy was a great friend, landlord, and doctor. I will never forget the Christmas morning when he opened his clinic to examine my kitty who had sudden liver failure. I know Tommy will be missed.
Cousin, you will be missed. A lot.
Our sincere sympathy to Dr. Nero's family and the staff of the Cat Clinic. Dr. Nero will be sorely missed by all, especially the cats that he has helped so much over the years. It is so sad. Our regrets to all.
Linda Oswald and family of Cally.
I remember Tom as one of the finest fellows I ever knew. My deepest condolences to Betty, and to Tom's wonderful family.
Tom Nero's warm smile, gentle spirit, and extraordinary range of talents will forever be etched in my heart.
There is no doubt all who knew him experienced this as well.
The special life and bond he shared with his beloved wife Betty was just as inspirational.
Tom was truly one of the "Good Guys" and will be hugely missed.
We were saddened to read of Tom's untimely death and will keep you and Tom in our prayers. We were among Tom's newest clients and didn't have the privilege of knowing him as long as others who have posted here. Our cats (Rumpleteaser especially) loved him. We will all miss him greatly.
Dr. Nero was the best Vet for my four cats. My deepest sympathy to his family and staff at the Cat Clinic.

Our thoughts are with Dr. Nero's family and the staff of the Cat Clinic..We are so saddened by his passing...our Orange Boy, Monster and Mother will also miss the good doctor...
My thoughts and prayers are with you, as we share the loss of your husband and our beloved friend Dr. Tom Nero.
I remember my first visit with a folder of Morgan's medical records, no cat, and Tom's reaction. What can I do for you with a twinkle in his eye. I explained the whole mess of a 12 week old kitten dropped in my lap - thought to be diabetic.
45 minutes later, I was a fan! I learned so much going over each test, I found hope, and I knew this man had a gift.
The next morning began the special journey of Morgan the Pirate Gato. He spent weeks at the clinic being regulated on insulin. Every time I would visit, he had more toys to play with. He came out for play time with Sam, Abigail and friends. He was turning into a happy go lucky healthy kitten.
Morgan and Tom shared a very special bond, and we celebrated each milestone together. Being healthy enough for neutering, his double cataract surgery at Cornell. I will always remember how much he smiled the first time he saw Morgan's new crystal clear green eyes.
Through each new challenge with Morgan, we smiled and Tom found a way to make him better. When Morgan needed a sonogram - Tom came in on his day off to do it.
I could write a book about the Doc and Morgan and how thanks to his caring - Morgan is here today.
He gave Jesse James an extra year of a happy life, when he had 2 types of cancer. He got Willow through herpes. He got Amigo through two horrible crystal bouts. He helped with trap/neuter/returns when feral showed up. The list goes on.
Heaven is a better place now that Tom has arrived.
Thank you for everything Doc - I know Morgan has a special Angel looking over him.
My deepest sympathies to the Nero family and Cat Clinic staff during this very sad time. I will be forever grateful for the knowledge, advice, compassion, and kindness Dr. Nero extended to my Cats Max & Tucker and the times you comforted me when my cats were hurt. Thank you for the thoughtful card you send when I lost my beloved Tucker. I never felt like it was just an office visit you always made it feel like they were an a member of your family to. You will be deeply missed! My thoughts are prayers are with you.

I am still having a hard time accepting that you are gone, never to hear you, talk to you, see that smile and see that glint in your eye, you were so much more than just a friend. My daughter had worked w/ and for you for over 20 years and loved every minute, you taught us so much and took care of all our kitties with as much love as we had for them. You have been taken away from us too young, rest in peace, our Dr Tom. My heart and prayers go out to Betty, his family and all of the Cat Clinic staff that have become part of the family as well. God Bless.... Cookie (Monster) and Miss Shellie will miss you so much!

Dear Betty, our prayers are with you. We were so sad to hear of your husband's passing, and can imagine how hard it is for you..Your cousins, David & Cassie Kormanicki
So sad and unexpected.
Tom was a great vet for felines and not only took good care of his clients' cats but also his clients during the difficult times when their "loved ones" were sick.
I know, I was one of Tom's many clients and when I had my three "kids" he and his staff took care of them as if they were their own.

This is not only such a huge loss for Tom's family, but for the community as well. What an amazing, caring, multi-talented man - and the very best cat doctor ever. It was an honor to know Tom and to work by his side as he tended to his clients and patients. As a member of his staff, I looked forward to learning from him each workday. As his friend, we shared the love of music and enjoyed introducing each other to bands and musical artists the other didn't yet know of. His passing has left all of us at the Cat Clinic with broken hearts but also with many memories of the kind, compassionate, caring, incredibly multi-talented man that he was. I am grateful for the time I had with him. My deepest condolences to his dear wife Betty, his entire family, his friends, clients, patients and my fellow technicians. We grieve now but in due time may we all come to find peace in his passing and a meaningful way to carry on his philosophies.

When I heard today about Dr. Nero. I was very shacked. He has made a name in Danbury and the surrounding towns as the Vet who "cared for my cats." Most of my cat customers came from the recomendation of Dr. Nero for grooming. He will be greatly missed. And a great loss for this community. Rest in peace Dr. Nero.

We are so shocked and saddened to hear about Dr. Nero. He was a real hero in our household. He saved one of my cats and always gave the right advice with a lovely human touch. The reason I hired him as our vet was the way he picked up my cat. I knew he really liked them. He will really be missed. Condolences.
Betty, my heart broke at this news. Tom was one of the finest people I ever met. His loving and gentle care of my cats over the years was unforgettable and unmatched by any other veterinary professional. My very deepest sympathy to you and all who loved him.
To the family of Dr. Nero and to the staff at The Cat Clinic, our deepest sympathy at your loss. May Dr. Tom rest in peace.
I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Nero. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and with the staff of the Cat Clinic. We have lost someone who was honest, straight-forward and trustworthy with his clients and kind and compassionate with his patients. From the first time I saw him with our old man, Earl Grey, I was a fan. Through Earl's decline and passing, my respect and admiration for him was cemented. Many times, I would joke with him about disguising my dog as a cat, so that he would see him as well. I will miss his affectionate "Knucklehead" comments to my children, who were never afraid to ask him questions during visits. Although our loss pales in comparison with that of his family, he will be missed dearly by his feline fans and fanciers.
Tom was a great musician and a great guy. I am shocked to hear of his passing. This really hurts. Prayers go out to Betty and the rest of the family. He will be missed

To Dr. Tom's family and the staff at the Cat Clinic - while no words can truly comfort you at this time, here's hoping that you will find comfort in knowing that those of us who entrusted him with the care of our beloved cats grieve with you and that you are in many thoughts and prayers. Thank you, Dr. Tom - may you rest in peace.
