ROWAN, Matthew P..
Matthew Physioc Rowan, 40, of Bethel, CT, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013. He was born March 7, 1973 in Trenton, New Jersey to Carla and Peter Rowan of Redding, CT. Matt is a graduate of Joel Barlow 1991, Alfred University 1995, and George Mason University 2004. Matt's lifetime adventures included the Peace Corps in Armenia, the US Army's prestigious Old Guard in Washington D.C., the Peace Corps in Moldova, and the US Air Force in Tucson AZ. Matt won numerous awards including an Army Achievement medal for his assistance to the Pentagon after September 11th, 2001. Matt was an intelligent and kind man, whose curiosity was inspiring to those around him. In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by four siblings: Lisa Peterson of Nazareth, PA, Peter Rowan II of Redding, CT, Kimberly Bennett of Sudbury, MA, and Katherine Larrabee of Carlisle Ma, and eight nieces and nephews.

What a terrible shock it was to read of Matt's passing. All of his accomplishments are very impressive. My heart breaks for Matthew's family and friends. Though i did not know him personally, I am a friend of Kate's and knew Pete Jr. from working at the Redding Country Club. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My deepest condolences to Kate and the rest of Rowan family during this difficult time. I think back to the times of playing basketball both at Barlow and the Boys Club in the early 90s with Matt. On the court, he carried himself well and was the definition of a class act who let his actions speak louder than words. I can see clearly in that admirable photo of him that he took that approach to life as well.
