TOWNSEND - Raymond A. Barcus, Sr. passed away at State Street Assisted Living, Dover, on May 14, 2018.
He was born in Townsend, on January 7, 1939, the son of the late Arthur and Marguerite Barcus.
He retired as an equipment operator from the State of Delaware. He also worked for St. Andrews School in the Grounds Section.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Middletown, DE.
He was a 40-year member of the Townsend Fire Company where he served on Fire Police. He was given the honor of Fire Police Emeritus of the Townsend Fire Company in 2006.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Barcus; and a son, Mark Barcus.
He is survived by his children, Penny Gentry (Dennis) of Little Creek, Ray Barcus Jr. (Gayle) of Townsend, and Wayne Barcus (Susan) of Clayton; grandchildren, Daniel Gentry (Jessica) of Smyrna, Stacy Yeatman (Jason) of Clayton, Heather Barcus of Townsend, and Michele Gentry of Little Creek; great-grandchildren, Julianna, Ryan, Kayleigh, Brayden, and Alyssa Gentry of Smyrna, and Tommy Yeatman of Clayton; a brother, Wilson (Pat) Barcus of Townsend; and his four-legged child, Odie.
Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Monday May 21, 2018 at Matthews Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Townsend Fire Co., PO Box 194, Townsend, DE 19734.

Ray I am so sorry for your loss. I use to enjoy seeing and talking to your Father either at Fire scenes or when I worked part time for the Townsend Fire Company.
