Nick... I am thinking about you today and have talked about you many times in my classroom. I will never forget our final email conversation and I still have it saved today. Thank you for your honor, service, and friendship.

Each year on Veterans' Day I visit the Healing Field that has graced us in Cathedral City, Ca. for several years now. Each year I pick a flag at random and view the placard with the name of a fallen hero. In 2012 I picked Nicholas. Thank you Nick. I never met you but I feel like I know you.

It is because of people like you that I can live in a country free of war. I don't have to fear the bombs and missles. I have the freedom to do and say as I please. All of this is because of your sacrifice and the sacrafice of so many others. I will not forget and I make a pledge that I will not let others forget. RIP with the angels.

I'm thinking of you and of all the good times we had together in high school and college this Memorial Day weekend, Nick. I wish you could have been there for the wedding in March, you'd have looked sharp in a groomsman's suit.

If you are in the Phoenix area, you can go to the City of Phoenix building at 200 West Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ and in the lobby there is a Veteran's art and memorial display. It appears the display is put on by the Arizona Art Alliance and displays beautiful art created by veterans. In addition, there is a wall memorial for those people in Arizona who were killed in the line of duty. I cannot guarantee a complete list; however, Nicholas has two pictures up there and a note from his mom, Diane. I just put one up today, as well. I get coffee in this building once a week and did not see it last week and I am not sure how long it will be up. If you get a chance, swing on by and leave Nick a hello!

6 years. Feels both like yesterday and an eternity. Still painfully missed. Still bring a smile to my face daily. I'm eternally grateful for you. I wish I was feeling more eloquent today but you know how much you're cared for even if the words don't come. Thanks for being you.

Good Morning Nick, Thank you for continuing to be a strong presence during this time of "not sure what's happening...gonna do my best regardless of the details!" There is such an unrest in the people on the earth...it comforts me just knowing I (we) have you as an example of gettin er done! Look forward to seeing you on the other side, such a blessing that will be! Total respect for who you are, buddy. Best to your family! Hey, on a side note....how is that guy you were giving a hug to? You know the one, I think he is in law enforcement. I am just hoping I don't get arrested by him cause I would want special treatment and I know that ain't gonna happen. LOL Loving your memory, Marie
