I was in Cincinnati and later in Miami when I read of the passing of Dr. Pinelo. I think I was one of his first students having started at the old campus in Covington.
Al was a great inspiration to me and many others. That first group of faculty members where all such a great group. Many of us attended the ground breaking years later in Highland Heights, very exciting times. Al, with such soft voiced lectures seamingling open doors to far off places and opened minds to accept a different approach and diversity. Many of us worked full time, had young families and very busy lives...the Pinelo's always had time,Al as a educator ,friend and advisor, while Kathy devoted so much to the Brighton Center when it was the real "West End" and of course to the children. They made a difference, they gave back to the community. My wife and I where at the Pinelo's in Ft. Thomas the night of the Beverly Hills fire. All of us went off to help in whatever way that we could.
Al became the faculty advisor for Beta Phi Delta when I was President of the Chapter. This was not an easy task. I became a better person by knowing Adalberto Pinelo,he helped me get to that better place regardless of who I was,and what I had. May God bless Dr. Pinelo. You made a big difference in my life.

I was very upset to hear about the death of my major professor, Dr. Pinelo. He was my mentor at NKU, and I was one of the few students in the first year (experimental year) of the new International Studies dept., in the very early 80's. Dr. Pinelo was instrumental in helping to shape my career choice in international disciplines. We were a small group that first year, and NKU was watching to see if this international thing would really take off...well it did, continues too, and Dr. Pinelo is a major reason it succeeded. I have many great memories of Dr. Pinelo (I have a great picture of Dr. Pinelo with me on graduation day in 1984,in my cap and gown, and he and Kathy hosted some wonderful parties in the early 80's,) and I was very fortunate to have him as my university mentor, as well as call him my friend.

A sincere and inspiring gentleman who worked tirelessly to help others grow and improve. Those contributions can never be fully measured but his influence continually improved our community and University . The principles and examples shared by Dr. Pinelo have, and will continue to be passed on to others through the lives and efforts of his students. Thank you Dr. Pinelo, well done good and faithful servant.
