DORMAN
John Earl Dorman, 87, of Florence, KY passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at his home. John was a 53 year member of the Florence Baptist Church, Bradford Masonic Lodge, Past President of League of Kentucky Sportsman and also a Kentucky Colonel. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W.II and then with the Army Reserves. John was the Football and Track coach at Boone County High School and Athletic Director at Boone County High School. He was an All-State Football player at Dixie Heights High School and Played at the University of Kentucky under Bear Bryant and then played 3 years at Eastern Kentucky University. John was an avid Fisherman, Hunter and Outdoorsman. John is preceded in death by his Parents John Carlton Dorman and Jeannette Pelstring Dorman and Brother James Dorman. He is survived by his Loving Wife of 57 years: Grace M. Turner Dorman; Sons: John William (Katherine) Dorman and Todd (Karen) Dorman; Daughter: Lisa Kaye (Darryl) Holmes, Grandchildren: Nick and Joseph Dorman, Jenna (Ryan) McGovern and Micah Holmes. Visitation will be at the Florence Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 27, 2013. An Honor Guard Service and Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger. Memorial Suggestions to the Florence Baptist Church c/o Building Fund 642 Mt. Zion Road Florence, KY 41042. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of one of the best teachers the Boone County School system ever had. He balanced being kind and strict like no one else could. Praying for the family this morning. Mr. Dorman's smile is forever etched in my mind. He was my teacher in advanced biology in 1969-1970. Great class, great teacher, great Christain. Thank you Mr. Dorman.

Mr. Dorman was one of my favorite teachers. He was kind and patient and I loved the way his eyes would light up when he would talk about fishing and hunting! The students of BCHS were very lucky to have him as mentor. Rest in peace and fly high dear sir!!

What a wonderful teacher Mr. Dorman was. He was one of my favorite. His eyes would just light up when he talked about fishing and hunting..lol. He was a patient and kind man.
