Tom was a great guy and someone who was a stalwart in my youth on Oak St. May he rest in peace with the angels and his family.

Tom,

I'm so sorry John and I won't be with the family on Saturday to say goodbye to you. But somehow I think you'll understand as we'll be in South Bend for the Notre Dame – BYU game. I cannot think of a better place to celebrate your life.

You were the smartest, most fun loving man I've ever known. Everyone who had the pleasure of talking to you left a little more informed and always with a smile on their face. You were a gift from God he shared with the world for 90 years.

We'll light a candle for you at the Basilica, turn to see “Touchdown Jesus” every time the Irish score, sing the fight song at the top of our lungs and have you in our hearts at every moment.

Go Irish!!

P.S. Can you ask for a little divine intervention for Tommy Rees this weekend? He needs all the help he can get.

Tom, your branch of the family tree in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania celebrates your reunion with our loved ones in Heaven. We are so sad, but as you would wish, we comfort ourselves with vibrant memories of your loving kindness and healing sense of humor. You left many here on Earth who are better people for having known you. Your many nieces and nephews had in you the gift of a second "father" and I know how deeply and equally you loved us all because you told me this. On your behalf I will remind us all of how deeply you loved us. Please intercede for us in Heaven. You live in our hearts and your goodness which we will emulate will live on throughout the generations.
Love, Linda
P.S. I will cheer for Notre Dame relentlessly.
