Noah Harris enjoyed giving stuffed animals and soccer balls to Iraqi children. He was even known for having "bullets in one pocket, Beanie Babies in the other." "For every bullet Noah Harris shot from his weapon, he must have handed out 10 Beanie Babies to the children of Iraq," said Capt. Bobby Toon. Harris, 23, of Ellijay, Ga., died June 18 after his vehicle was attacked in Buhriz. He was stationed at Fort Benning. At the University of Georgia, Harris joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and made the cheerleading squad, vaulting up the ranks to varsity after one game. He graduated in 2003. In his platoon, he was known for having a photo of his parents' home as a screen saver on his laptop computer. "When I asked him what the picture was of, he said, 'That's why I'm here,'" Toon said. To try to raise his unit's morale, he also organized a pen pal program that paired his fellow soldiers with UGA students. "Noah packed more in his lifetime than many people do in 70 to 80 years," said Sid Webb, his school youth group leader. He is survived by his parents, Rick and Lucy Harris.

Recent IDWIC dog tags in Noah's memory

This is what I told my graduating seniors (and have done every year since 2005) I retired last year: You have missed me relating this story to you in personI was driving home one day in 2005 and heard an obituary on NPR. It was for a 23 year-old soldier, 1st Lt. Noah Harris. I did not know him but he was the same age as my younger daughterand in the Army, as is my elder daughter. What resonated were the eulogies of his high school friendsthey remember him as doing extraordinary things for...

Today "I did the grid" which is a 4 mile run/ walk race in memory of cpl Christopher G. Scherer, but it is not only about him, on my bib that i Ran with today it had Noah Harris name on it and the fact that I ran for you son today was my honor I send my blessings out to the family and friends. And I hope you guys are staying strong

You will always be remembered.
