Aldona Nalecz-Tyminska Rideau died on Monday, April 6, 2015 at the age of 75. Beloved wife of Sidney Noel Rideau, mother of Robin Douglas Rideau, Natalie Noelle Rideau, and daughter of the late Jadwiga Nalecz-Tyminska and Rear Admiral Romuald Nalecz-Tyminski of the Polish Navy. Aldona (Donia) was born in Warsaw on November 5, 1939, entering life in Poland's darkest days of World War II. She met her father for the first time at the age of six, when the family was reunited after the war. England eventually became her home and her early education at The Sacred Heart School in Farnborough, which fostered her love of books and learning. By age ten, her life would open up to a new world. Her father, a decorated naval officer, was given a high command in helping Pakistan develop its naval establishment in the City of Karachi. This became a highly diplomatic life and education for a young girl in the ways of international and social protocol. At Karachi's British School, she was the female Valedictorian of her high school graduating class, and furthered her studies at École d'Interpretes at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She later moved to New York City, where she worked for the United Nations Economic and Social Council and later met her future husband Sidney. They made New Orleans and later Covington, La. their lifelong home. Her love of God, family, friends, books, and rescuing animals, guided her generous life. Her graceful manner touched many and will linger in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Private memorial services were held on May 9, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations to her favorite charities are gratefully accepted: The St. Tammany Humane Society, 20384 Harrison Avenue, Covington, LA 70433, www.sthumane.org or the The Humane Society of Louisiana, P. O. Box 740321, New Orleans, LA 70174, www.humanela.org.
