PIZZECK Phillip "Phil" Thomas Pizzeck passed from this life, in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the age of 53. A native of New Orleans , he grew up in the Lakeview area and resided in River Ridge with his life companion and devoted mate, Debbie Waguespack. He was a friend to many and was best known for his quick wit, personality and positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He prized being with great friends and sharing good food. He enjoyed lively discussions, was an avid sailor and loved having fun on the water. Son of the late Alfred and Jean Pizzeck. Brother of Glenn and Gary Pizzeck. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial gathering on Saturday January 12, 2013 at the New Orleans Yacht Club at 2:00 pm. "I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it, but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor." --Marjorie Holmes Phil, you have made it to your final port, you may now rest. Phil,
I was devastated to hear the news that you had passed. I do not know how our neighborhood will ever be the same without your smile, wit, humor and compassion for your fellow neighbors. It is still a habit for me to look for you across the street every day because you were always outside working on something or taking care of your neighbors. You were a kind and generous man who understood the truest meaning of community. We promise to look after Debbie and help her through this the best we can. You have left a huge void in the hearts of those who Love you. We selfishly want you here with us but we understand that God needed you more. Rest easy my friend, we will do our best to carry on until we meet again. I send prayers to your family and to Debbie. You would be so proud of her Phil, she is being so brave. A testimony to your and her Love for each other. Goodbye my friend....may the waters be steady as your sail to your final destination.

Really a good guy. I so enjoyed working with Phil on projects after Katrina. We had many a long talk and it was always interesting and fun. Weather it was sailing or work Phil approached it ethically and with passion.

Phil, we will miss you in so many ways, more ways than I can list. I will especially miss spending Sundays at the pool with you. So many conversations, debates, jokes, just many, many good times. You will be missed so much but live on in our hearts forever.
