Ray Raymond Obituary

RAYMOND Ray Klinger Raymond passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at her home in Metairie, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Gates of Prayer Cemetery, 4824 Canal Street, Rabbi Robert Lowey officiating. Ray was born October 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Max and Grace Lewis Klinger. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Klinger Raymond of Jefferson, LA and Donna Rose Raymond of Metairie, LA and her grandson, Robert Max Raymond also of Metairie. She and her husband, the late Robert Augustus Raymond, lived in New Orleans for most of their married life and were members of Temple Gates of Prayer. Ray was a loving mother, who dedicated her life to raising her children. She was a member of Hadassah, the National Council of Jewish Women and other Jewish organizations, and had done volunteer work in Israel and in New Orleans. She will be remembered by many as a superb cook who hosted elaborate dinners for family and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Klinger Raymond and is also survived by nephews and nieces, Nancy Pulitzer Gold, Dr. Donald Pulitzer, Evan Raymond and Dale Glenn; sister-in-law, Irene Raymond and brother-in-law, Stanley Pulitzer. Funeral arrangements by Tharp Sontheimer Tharp, 1600 North Causeway Blvd, Metairie, LA 70001; 504-835-2341. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Jewish Children's Regional Service, Jack M. Pulitzer Fund, P.O.Box 7368, Metairie, LA 70010-5277.

I remember Aunt Ray cleverly sewing ribbons into Nicole's white Communion dress to turn it into a beautiful multi-colored spring dress. Loving compassionate acts of kindness like this one is what made her such a special person. She will be missed.
