Richard Womack Obituary

WOMACK Richard Owen Womack, known in his earlier years as Dick, 74, went to be with the Lord on May 26, 2011. Survived by his wife, Barbara, who shared the last 17 years of his life; five children, Paul John & wife Kim Womack, Tracy Melder Womack, William Owen & wife Ashley Womack, Sarah Dawn & husband Mark Steudlein, and Micah Shawn Frickie; 9 wonderful grandchildren, Jobe, Jennifer, Tiffany, Owen, Cana, Cassie, Hannah, Olivia & Noah; brother Jerry Don Womack; sister Melanie Sue Zito; along with several cousins and aunts. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Dawson and Earle Melder Womack; and a brother Thomas Maxwell Womack. Richard's love and daily prayer was to see each member of his family receive the costly gift of salvation from his precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to be able to walk with them again one day in our Lord's heavenly presence. Richard's passion in life was looking for the soon return of our Lord Jesus and the rapture of the Church, and encouraging others to be ready, for that day quickly approaches. Richard had a passion for life and tried to live every day as if it were his last. His life's story was one of redemption... the Lord taking a man, living an imperfect, sinful life and changing his very nature and the desires of his heart to follow the Lord in every way. His Homegoing Celebration will be held at Victory Harvest Church, 3953 N. Flannery, Baton Rouge, on Sunday, May 29, at 3:00 pm conducted by Rev. Terry Workman and Rev. Kenny Cutrer, with visitation from 2 - 3 pm. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Special thanks to all the many friends and family that supported and loved him to the end of life on this side of eternity, and the precious staff of chaplains, doctors, nurses and aides who helped him to pass peacefully at The Carpenter House of St Joseph's Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to St. Joseph's Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809, or Gideon's International, www.gideons.org, so that your gift may live on to help other's find God's love and salvation that was most precious to us all.

I kissed my beloved husband Richard, today, for the last time on this side of eternity. Thank you Lord for all the wonderful memories I will cherish in my heart forever. God bless all the nurses, doctors, friends and family who stood by our side and helped us through his illness. Each one of you are greatly appreciated.

Yes, for certain, Richard is in a much better world than this one. All of your prayers have been answered and he is much happier for all the prayers recited on his behalf. He is now free from all pain and agony and what better a person than Richard could you ever have to lead those who follow him into his world. There he will meet with all of those who preceded him, and there will be a grand celebration on his behalf.

May God Bless the Womak Family, and God Bless Richard Owen Womack.
