During a meeting I had with him in 1985 he jumped up unexpectedly saying he had to give a talk to some American businessmen. As he bundled me into the back of a waiting car he told me it was about the new conservatism. I didn't know there was one I said naively. It's the same as the old dear boy, he replied dryly , but they won't know it. On the way to the lunch, he stopped by a barber shop and had what he called a four minute haircut. A one off and will be much missed. Have fun out there Norman.
