George was an integral part of the AFS Northland Chapter, having set it up when Blainin became an AFS student. AFS meant the world to George during the many, many years he was involved. Members will have loads of happy memories of times spent at camps, orientations, selections, talking to the fella with the funny voice! Half of them could never understand what he was saying! He met all incoming students to Northland at Onerahi Airport. He was an institution where AFS Northland was concerned. He also attended National Office annual meetings and always fought on behalf of our students, in whatever capacity was needed. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. After using social media to inform the AFS world of George's passing, I have received numerous messages of condolences from NZ and around the AFS worlds. George, rest peacefully, you deserve it. Bev. Richards, on behalf of past AFS students and volunteers.

I have many fond memories of my time in Clotworthy Crescent in the 60's with George and Clare - babysitting the Holmes-Kinsella children, enjoying Clare's home baking after church on a Sunday and delivered to our home. Also Clare doing our ironing after mum died and I'm sure dad and George shared many an ale together. My condolenses to you all, I'm so sorry for your loss - I do remember you with great fondness. Love from Katie (Kathryn) Leigh xx
