I remember some awesome times at Maihiihi shared with Johan and his family. Our friendship has continued for more than 30 years. Johan always had a little joke and was interesting to talk to. I am pleased to have been able to share in his farewell with his family over the weekend. All my best wishes to you all.

I have many fond memories. I remember going to stay with you all not long after we arrived in NZ. I think Martin had just been born and I was fascinated, bathing etc. I got to feed my first lamb at your house (Tokoroa). We were always welcome and had lots of fun times together over the years. He will be missed by all

Many blessings and condolences to the van Iersel family at their time of great loss. I will never forget Pa van Iersel and all that he and Ma did for me... They took me in when I had nowhere to go and treated me with love and respect; they truly changed my life and I am forever grateful. They helped me keep my faith alive and they gave me chances when everyone else had given up. I would not be alive today if it was not for them. They showed me what it was like to have a real family, and no matter how badly I behaved, they never gave up on me. Pa, rest in peace and I thank God for you being in my life. You made a real difference, more than you will ever know. Kia Kaha van Iersel family.
