Spent many fine summer days building forts with Coley (and Ribbon - woof) in Carisbrooke. So surprised that we never reconnected in the military, we had a lot of similar experiences (Rangers, Airborne, Afghanistan tours)!
Hope I can share a some good memories with Coley in the next life.

Jane, I was just remembering this morning as his 5th grade teacher at Trinity Lutheran School in Newport News the day he told me he couldn't learn and recite the Gettysburg Address like the rest of the class because his father said "NO!" So Coley learned and recited the beautiful Lee's Farewell Address at Appomatox for me. It is so precious just remembering him that day reciting Lee's gracious words to his loyal Confederate troops. Isn't it a good thought to know Coley eventually went into the military himself and made a success of his life? I just had to share this second memory of him with you I can still see him, big, handsome and full of fun at the head of the class reciting the words of Robert E. Lee.

Coley was a classmate at Blue Ridge and when I think of him it brings a smile to my face. I am saddened by his passing. I wish his family the best at this difficult time.
