David Skinner Obituary
David H., Sr., of Glen Rock, passed away April 13, 2014. Beloved husband of 58 years to Eileen (nee Reilly). Loving father of Susan and husband Ray Deming of Glen Rock, David H Skinner Jr., of Ramsey, Stephen J. and wife Gigi Skinner of Hawthorne, Paul C and wife Lynn Skinner of Wanaque. Adoring grandfather to Kaitlyn, Matthew, Emily, and Amanda. A long time Parishioner of St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock, he was Principal of the Glen Rock Central School from 1978-1993. Previously, he was Principal of the Glen Rock Jr.-Sr. High School from 1968 - 1978. David earned his undergraduate from Manhattan College in 1952, and earned his Masters from Hofstra in 1954, and did Post Graduate work at St. John's. David was a combat Medic in the Korean War, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. David was Past Commander of VFW Post 850 Glen Rock, a member of the American Legion Post 145 Glen Rock, and also was a member of the Hobbyists in Ridgewood, and the Activities Club of Glen Rock. He was an avid Mets, St. John's Red Storm, and Notre Dame Football fan. In 1946, David was a lifeguard at Long Beach NY, where he met the love of his life, Eileen. The Funeral Mass will be Monday April 21, 2014 at 10 AM. in St. Catharine R.C. Church Glen Rock, with interment to follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, Ho-Ho-Kus. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM, at the Feeney Funeral Home, 232 Franklin Ave, Ridgewood.

Dear Eileen and Family, Lou and I were so sad to read about Dave's passing. You know how much we admired and respected Dave as he administered his wisdom and kindness to our boys, Patrick and Douglas, as principal of Central School. Lou has fond memories of David, Jr. when he was in his fifth grade class at Hamilton School and Dave was principal of the Glen Rock High School. Dave's passing is a great loss to everyone who had occasion to know him. May the love of your family and the memories of so many years of marriage console you in the future. Fondly,

Dear Friends and Family, my deepist condolences for the loss of a friend, colleague, and a principal of Central School. I k;new him briefly, but he always tried to do the best for the children he served.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
