My sincerest condolences to Ed's family. My heart is greatly saddened at his passing and yet joyful when I think of his booming voice and theatrical demeanor. He has left an indelible mark on my life that I will cherish always. I was fortunate enough to work for him back in 1978 in his export business. Not only was he a joy to work for, but he was my mentor as I began my own business unrelated to exporting. I have been in business for 23 years now and the lessons he taught me about how to treat employees has colored the way I have approached not only my business, but life in general. He was a unique individual with such a vibrancy for life that few people ever have. Though I left for California shortly after working for him, we remained in contact over the years. I will greatly miss him.

At family gatherings (usually at Jimmy & Maria's), they would go "Uncle Binnie is coming!", voiced with excitement and anticipation. Uncle Binnie will be greatly missed.

I first met Ed in a little theater group in Ramsey, N.J. called Theater World 4, and had the great pleasure of acting with him in the DRUNKARD, an old time temperance play. He played the villain with great swagger. A true gentleman. My sincere condolences to his family.

Ed was a dear friend of my Mom and Dad's (Joyce and Tom Ball) who were all in a youth group at Community Church in NYC during the war. He was a big part of my growing up--we would travel to Englewood to see him, and he and the family would come to upstate New York to our house. Ed kept in touch regularly with all those youth group members over the years. Such a positive influence and inspiration to everyone he met! He had a joy for life that was infectious, a great sense of humor, and tremendous talent. I love that he was rehearsing a play when he passed--what a way to go! He will be greatly missed. Hugs to Binnie and Bill.
