Richard William Moore, 92, of Upper Saddle River, died on July 2.
Born in Westchester, N.Y., he grew up in Rockland County, N.Y. After graduating from Spring Valley High School, he served in World War II as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army. He received an honorable discharge and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained on the front lines in Italy and North Africa. After his tour of duty, he began his long career at Sun Chemical (later Facile Technologies) in Paterson, as a product sales manager. He retired at age 72.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Taylor Moore; his sister, Florence Moore Renart of New City, N.Y.; his sons, Richard, Gregory and Bruce; his five grandchildren; and his seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles, John and Arthur.
Arrangements were by the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey, with interment at the Airmont Lutheran Cemetery in Airmont, N.Y.
