How in the world was this American Hero never promoted to General? He was a class act and a determined and fierce leader of those who served. Now, he can rest. I met Col Day at Eglin a few years ago and like everyone that has ever met him, came away thoroughly impressed. A final salute to you Col. RIP and may your family find peace and comfort in their time of sadness.

The United States of America lost a true loyal American hero, a great statesman in his own right, a wonderful role model for young people all over the world and a voracious fighter for military veteran's rights. He has been the right man in the right place at the right time. May God bless his mighty efforts hear on earth, and may He welcome this fellow warrior into heaven for a well deserved "rest in peace." Dear Day Family:

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.

Although I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing him, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.

This nation has known few heroes of the caliber of Col. Bud Day. He served this country to the best of his abilities and gave strength and promise to veterans who called upon his services to represent them. Bud Day was a true hero, a gentleman and a proud Air Force Officer. The "Misty FAC" heroes will forever remember his great leadership abilities as will former POW's who served alongside him. Rest in Peace Colonel Day, a greatful nations mourns your passing and thanks GOD that military veterans like you exist to serve this great nation. To your family, my families prayers be with you during this difficult time.
